In this paper we extend to arbitrary number fields a construction of Bost-Connes of a -dynamical system with spontaneous symmetry breaking and partition function the Riemann zeta function.
We introduce a family of deformations of the Riemann xi-function endowed with two continuous parameters. We show that it has rich analytic structure and that its conjectural (mild) zero-free region for some fixed parameter is a sufficient condition for the Riemann hypothesis to hold for the Riemann zeta function.
We generalize Rademacher's reciprocity formula for the Dedekind sum to a family of cotangent sums. One of the sums in this family is strictly related to the Vasyunin sum, a function defined on the rationals that is relevant to the Nyman-Beurling-Báez-Duarte approach to the Riemann hypothesis.
Let be a number field. In this paper, we give a formula for the mean value of the square of class number times regulator for certain families of quadratic extensions of characterized by finitely many local conditions. We approach this by using the theory of the zeta function associated with the space of pairs of quaternion algebras. We also prove an asymptotic formula of the correlation coefficient for class number times regulator of certain families of quadratic extensions.
The cross number κ(a) can be defined for any element a of a Krull monoid. The property κ(a) = 1 is important in the study of algebraic numbers with factorizations of distinct lengths. The arithmetic meaning of the weaker property, κ(a) ∈ ℤ, is still unknown, but it does define a semigroup which may be interesting in its own right. This paper studies some arithmetic(divisor theory) and analytic(distribution of elements with a given norm) properties of that semigroup and a related semigroup of ideals....
Automorphic distributions are distributions on , invariant under the linear
action of the group . Combs are characterized by the additional
requirement of being measures supported in : their decomposition into
homogeneous components involves the family , of Eisenstein distributions, and the coefficients of the decomposition are given as
Dirichlet series . Functional equations of the usual (Hecke) kind relative
to turn out to be equivalent to the invariance of the comb under some
modification...
We prove an explicit formula of Atkinson type for the error term in the asymptotic formula for the mean square of the product of the Riemann zeta-function and a Dirichlet polynomial. To deal with the case when coefficients of the Dirichlet polynomial are complex, we apply the idea of the first author in his study on mean values of Dirichlet L-functions.
