Interaction of Turing and Hopf Modes in the Superdiffusive Brusselator Model Near a Codimension Two Bifurcation Point

J. C. Tzou, A. Bayliss, B.J. Matkowsky, V.A. Volpert (2010)

Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena

Spatiotemporal patterns near a codimension-2 Turing-Hopf point of the one-dimensional superdiffusive Brusselator model are analyzed. The superdiffusive Brusselator model differs from its regular counterpart in that the Laplacian operator of the regular model is replaced by ∂α/∂|ξ|α, 1 < α < 2, an integro-differential operator that reflects the nonlocal behavior of superdiffusion. The order of the operator, α, is a measure of the rate of ...

Local properties of the solution set of the operator equation in Banach spaces in a neighbourhood of a bifurcation point

Joanna Janczewska (2004)

Open Mathematics

In this work we study the problem of the existence of bifurcation in the solution set of the equation F(x, λ)=0, where F: X×R k →Y is a C 2-smooth operator, X and Y are Banach spaces such that X⊂Y. Moreover, there is given a scalar product 〈·,·〉: Y×Y→R 1 that is continuous with respect to the norms in X and Y. We show that under some conditions there is bifurcation at a point (0, λ0)∈X×R k and we describe the solution set of the studied equation in a small neighbourhood of this point.

Nonlinear boundary value problems describing mobile carrier transport in semiconductor devices

E. Z. Borevich, V. M. Chistyakov (2001)

Applications of Mathematics

The present paper describes mobile carrier transport in semiconductor devices with constant densities of ionized impurities. For this purpose we use one-dimensional partial differential equations. The work gives the proofs of global existence of solutions of systems of such kind, their bifurcations and their stability under the corresponding assumptions.
