Equiconnected spaces and Baire classification of separately continuous functions and their analogs

Olena Karlova, Volodymyr Maslyuchenko, Volodymyr Mykhaylyuk (2012)

Open Mathematics

We investigate the Baire classification of mappings f: X × Y → Z, where X belongs to a wide class of spaces which includes all metrizable spaces, Y is a topological space, Z is an equiconnected space, which are continuous in the first variable. We show that for a dense set in X these mappings are functions of a Baire class α in the second variable.

Equicontinuity, shadowing and distality in general topological spaces

Huoyun Wang (2020)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

We consider the notions of equicontinuity point, sensitivity point and so on from a topological point of view. Many of these notions can be sensibly defined either in terms of (finite) open covers or uniformities. We show that for the notions of equicontinuity point and sensitivity point, Hausdorff or uniform versions coincide in compact Hausdorff spaces and are equivalent to the standard definitions stated in terms of a metric in compact metric spaces. We prove that a uniformly chain transitive...

Equidistribution in the dual group of the S -adic integers

Roman Urban (2014)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Let X be the quotient group of the S -adele ring of an algebraic number field by the discrete group of S -integers. Given a probability measure μ on X d and an endomorphism T of X d , we consider the relation between uniform distribution of the sequence T n 𝐱 for μ -almost all 𝐱 X d and the behavior of μ relative to the translations by some rational subgroups of X d . The main result of this note is an extension of the corresponding result for the d -dimensional torus 𝕋 d due to B. Host.

Equilateral sets in Banach spaces of the form C(K)

Sophocles K. Mercourakis, Georgios Vassiliadis (2015)

Studia Mathematica

We show that for "most" compact nonmetrizable spaces, the unit ball of the Banach space C(K) contains an uncountable 2-equilateral set. We also give examples of compact nonmetrizable spaces K such that the minimum cardinality of a maximal equilateral set in C(K) is countable.

Equilibria and strict equilibria of multivalued maps on noninvariant sets

Pierre Cardaliaguet, Grzegorz Gabor, Marc Quincampoix (2003)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

This paper is concerned with existence of equilibrium of a set-valued map in a given compact subset of a finite-dimensional space. Previously known conditions ensuring existence of equilibrium imply that the set is either invariant or viable for the differential inclusion generated by the set-valued map. We obtain some equilibrium existence results with conditions which imply neither invariance nor viability of the given set. The problem of existence of strict equilibria is also discussed.

Equilibria in a class of games and topological results implying their existence.

R.S. Simon, S. Spiez, H. Torunczyk (2008)

RACSAM

We survey results related to the problem of the existence of equilibria in some classes of infinitely repeated two-person games of incomplete information on one side, first considered by Aumann, Maschler and Stearns. We generalize this setting to a broader one of principal-agent problems. We also discuss topological results needed, presenting them dually (using cohomology in place of homology) and more systematically than in our earlier papers.
