Let $Y$ be a divisor on a smooth algebraic variety $X$. We investigate the geometry of the Jacobian scheme of $Y$, homological invariants derived from logarithmic differential forms along $Y$, and their relationship with the property that $Y$ be a free divisor. We consider arrangements of hyperplanes as a source of examples and counterexamples. In particular, we make a complete calculation of the local cohomology of logarithmic forms of generic hyperplane arrangements.

The goal of the article is to develop a theory dual to that of support in the derived category $\mathrm{D}\left(R\right)$. This is done by introducing ‘big’ and ‘small’ cosupport for complexes that are different from the cosupport in D. J. Benson, S. B. Iyengar, H. Krause (2012). In this paper, we study a model for the magnetization in thin ferromagnetic films. It comes as a variational problem for $S^1$-valued maps $m^{\text{'}}$ (the magnetization) of two variables $x^{\text{'}}$: $E_{\epsilon }\left(m^{\text{'}}\right)=\epsilon \int {|{\nabla }^{\text{'}}·m^{\text{'}}|}^{2}d{x}^{\text{'}}+\frac{1}{2}\int {\left||{\nabla }^{\text{'}}{|}^{-1/2}{\nabla }^{\text{'}}·m^{\text{'}}\right|}^{2}d{x}^{\text{'}}$. We determine the duals of the homogeneous matrix-weighted Besov spaces ${Ḃ}_p^{\alpha q}\left(W\right)$ and ${ḃ}_p^{\alpha q}\left(W\right)$ which were previously defined in [5]. If W is a matrix $A_p$ weight, then the dual of ${Ḃ}_p^{\alpha q}\left(W\right)$ can be identified with ${Ḃ}_{p^{\text{'}}}^{-\alpha q^{\text{'}}}\left(W^{-p^{\text{'}}/p}\right)$ and, similarly, $\left[{ḃ}_p^{\alpha q}\left(W\right)\right]*\approx {ḃ}_{p^{\text{'}}}^{-\alpha q^{\text{'}}}\left(W^{-p^{\text{'}}/p}\right)$. Let $l⩾2$ be an integer. Recently, Hu and Lü offered the asymptotic formula for the sum of the higher divisor function $$\sum _{1⩽n_1,n_2,...,n_l⩽x^{1/2}}{\tau }_k(n_1^2+n_2^2+\cdots +n_l^2),$$ where ${\tau }_k\left(n\right)$ represents the $k$th divisor function. We give the Goldbach-type analogy of their result. We consider elementary operators $x\mapsto {\sum }_{j=1}^n{a}_{j}x{b}_j$, acting on a unital Banach algebra, where $a_j$ and $b_j$ are separately commuting families of generalized scalar elements. We give an ascent estimate and a lower bound estimate for such an operator. For a double complex $(A,d^{\text{'}},d^{\text{'}\text{'}})$, we show that if it satisfies the $d^{\text{'}}{d}^{\text{'}\text{'}}$-lemma and the spectral sequence $\left\{E_r^{p,q}\right\}$ induced by $A$ does not degenerate at $E_0$, then it degenerates at $E_1$. We apply this result to prove the degeneration at $E_1$ of a Hodge-de Rham spectral sequence on compact bi-generalized Hermitian manifolds that satisfy a version of $d^{\text{'}}{d}^{\text{'}\text{'}}$-lemma.

We study the codimension two locus $H$ in ${𝒜}_g$ consisting of principally polarized abelian varieties whose theta divisor has a singularity that is not an ordinary double point. We compute the class $\left[H\right]\in C{H}^2\left({𝒜}_g\right)$ for every $g$. For $g=4$, this turns out to be the locus of Jacobians with a vanishing theta-null. For $g=5$, via the Prym map we show that $H\subset {𝒜}_5$ has two components, both unirational, which we describe completely. Let $G$ be a finite group and write $\mathrm{cd}\left(G\right)$ for the degree set of the complex irreducible characters of $G$. The group $G$ is said to satisfy the two-prime hypothesis if for any distinct degrees $a,b\in \mathrm{cd}\left(G\right)$, the total number of (not necessarily different) primes of the greatest common divisor $gcd(a,b)$ is at most $2$. We prove an upper bound on the number of irreducible character degrees of a nonsolvable group that has a composition factor isomorphic to PSL${}_2\left(q\right)$ for $q\ge 7$.

We consider tangent cones to Schubert subvarieties of the flag variety $G/B$, where $B$ is a Borel subgroup of a reductive complex algebraic group $G$ of type $E_6$, $E_7$ or $E_8$. We prove that if $w_1$ and $w_2$ form a good pair of involutions in the Weyl group $W$ of $G$ then the tangent cones $C_{w_1}$ and $C_{w_2}$ to the corresponding Schubert subvarieties of $G/B$ do not coincide as subschemes of the tangent space to $G/B$ at the neutral point.

Let $p_1,p_2,\cdots$ be the sequence of all primes in ascending order. Using explicit estimates from the prime number theory, we show that if $k\ge 5$, then $$(p_{k+1}-1)!\mid \left(\frac{1}{2}(p_{k+1}-1)\right)!p_k!,$$ which improves a previous result of the second author.
