Canonical Brauer induction and symmetric groups

Robert Boltje, Burkhard Külshammer (2005)

Bollettino dell'Unione Matematica Italiana

Imitating the approach of canonical induction formulas we derive a formula that expresses every character of the symmetric group as an integer linear combination of Young characters. It is different from the well-known formula that uses the determinantal form.

Canonical Objects in Classes of (n, V)-Groupoids

Celakoska-Jordanova, Vesna (2010)

Mathematica Balkanica New Series

AMS Subj. Classification: 03C05, 08B20Free algebras are very important in studying classes of algebras, especially varieties of algebras. Any algebra that belongs to a given variety of algebras can be characterized as a homomorphic image of a free algebra of that variety. Describing free algebras is an important task that can be quite complicated, since there is no general method to resolve this problem. The aim of this work is to investigate classes of groupoids, i.e. algebras with one binary operation,...

Cantor extension of a half lineary cyclically ordered group

Štefan Černák (2001)

Discussiones Mathematicae - General Algebra and Applications

Convergent and fundamental sequences are studied in a half linearly cyclically ordered group G with the abelian increasing part. The main result is the construction of the Cantor extension of G.
