The 3-modular characters of the twisted Chevalley group 2D4(2) y 2D4(2).2.

Ibrahim A. I. Suleiman (1995)

Revista Matemática de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid

In this paper we calculate the 3-modular character table of the twisted Chevalley group 2D4(2) and its automorphism group 2D4(2).2. The Meat-Axe package for calculating modular characters over finite fields (Ryba (1990)) was used to calculate most of the characters. The method of condensation, which was explained in Suleiman (1990) was used to determine the complete character table. All these methods are explained later in this paper.

The modular characters of the twisted Chevalley group 2D4(2) over GF2.

Ibrahim A. I. Suleiman (1995)

Revista Matemática de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid

In this paper we calculate the 2-modular character table of the twisted Chevalley group 2D4(2) using computer techniques available in an algebra package called Meat-Axe. This package is now available in Mu'tah University as well as other universities such as Birmingham University in the UK and Aachen University in Germany. The determination of this character table will be a contribution to modular calculations of various simple groups.

The Ore conjecture

Martin Liebeck, E.A. O’Brien, Aner Shalev, Pham Tiep (2010)

Journal of the European Mathematical Society

The Ore conjecture, posed in 1951, states that every element of every finite non-abelian simple group is a commutator. Despite considerable effort, it remains open for various infinite families of simple groups. In this paper we develop new strategies, combining character-theoretic methods with other ingredients, and use them to establish the conjecture.
