On Functions with the Cauchy Difference Bounded by a Functional

Włodzimierz Fechner (2004)

Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Mathematics

K. Baron and Z. Kominek [2] have studied the functional inequality f(x+y) - f(x) - f(y) ≥ ϕ (x,y), x, y ∈ X, under the assumptions that X is a real linear space, ϕ is homogeneous with respect to the second variable and f satisfies certain regularity conditions. In particular, they have shown that ϕ is bilinear and symmetric and f has a representation of the form f(x) = ½ ϕ(x,x) + L(x) for x ∈ X, where L is a linear function. The purpose of the present...

Mohamed Akkouchi, Allal Bakali, Belaid Bouikhalene, El Houcien El Qorachi (2006)

Extracta Mathematicae

Let G be a locally compact group. Let σ be a continuous involution of G and let μ be a complex bounded measure. In this paper we study the generalized d'Alembert functional equationD(μ)    ∫G f(xty)dμ(t) + ∫G f(xtσ(y))dμ(t) = 2f(x)f(y) x, y ∈ G;where f: G → C to be determined is a measurable and essentially bounded function.

On global transformations of ordinary differential equations of the second order

Václav Tryhuk (2000)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

The paper describes the general form of an ordinary differential equation of the second order which allows a nontrivial global transformation consisting of the change of the independent variable and of a nonvanishing factor. A result given by J. Aczél is generalized. A functional equation of the form f ( t , v y , w y + u v z ) = f ( x , y , z ) u 2 v + g ( t , x , u , v , w ) v z + h ( t , x , u , v , w ) y + 2 u w z is solved on for y 0 , v 0 .

On gradient-like random dynamical systems

Aya Hmissi, Farida Hmissi, Mohamed Hmissi (2012)

ESAIM: Proceedings

This paper deals with some characterizations of gradient-like continuous random dynamical systems (RDS). More precisely, we establish an equivalence with the existence of random continuous section or with the existence of continuous and strict Liapunov function. However and contrary to the deterministic case, parallelizable RDS appear as a particular case of gradient-like RDS.The obtained results are generalizations of well-known analogous theorems in the framework of deterministic dynamical systems....

On group decompositions of bounded cosine sequences

Wojciech Chojnacki (2007)

Studia Mathematica

A two-sided sequence ( c ) n with values in a complex unital Banach algebra is a cosine sequence if it satisfies c n + m + c n - m = 2 c c for any n,m ∈ ℤ with c₀ equal to the unity of the algebra. A cosine sequence ( c ) n is bounded if s u p n | | c | | < . A (bounded) group decomposition for a cosine sequence c = ( c ) n is a representation of c as c = ( b + b - n ) / 2 for every n ∈ ℤ, where b is an invertible element of the algebra (satisfying s u p n | | b | | < , respectively). It is known that every bounded cosine sequence possesses a universally defined group decomposition, here referred...

On homeomorphic and diffeomorphic solutions of the Abel equation on the plane

Zbigniew Leśniak (1993)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

We consider the Abel equation φ[f(x)] = φ(x) + a on the plane ℝ², where f is a free mapping (i.e. f is an orientation preserving homeomorphism of the plane onto itself with no fixed points). We find all its homeomorphic and diffeomorphic solutions φ having positive Jacobian. Moreover, we give some conditions which are equivalent to f being conjugate to a translation.

On homomorphisms between C * -algebras and linear derivations on C * -algebras

Chun-Gil Park, Hahng-Yun Chu, Won-Gil Park, Hee-Jeong Wee (2005)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

It is shown that every almost linear Pexider mappings f , g , h from a unital C * -algebra 𝒜 into a unital C * -algebra are homomorphisms when f ( 2 n u y ) = f ( 2 n u ) f ( y ) , g ( 2 n u y ) = g ( 2 n u ) g ( y ) and h ( 2 n u y ) = h ( 2 n u ) h ( y ) hold for all unitaries u 𝒜 , all y 𝒜 , and all n , and that every almost linear continuous Pexider mappings f , g , h from a unital C * -algebra 𝒜 of real rank zero into a unital C * -algebra are homomorphisms when f ( 2 n u y ) = f ( 2 n u ) f ( y ) , g ( 2 n u y ) = g ( 2 n u ) g ( y ) and h ( 2 n u y ) = h ( 2 n u ) h ( y ) hold for all u { v 𝒜 v = v * and v is invertible } , all y 𝒜 and all n . Furthermore, we prove the Cauchy-Rassias stability of * -homomorphisms between unital C * -algebras, and -linear...
