On définit localement la notion de polyèdre de rang deux pour un polyèdre fini de dimension deux à courbure négative ou nulle. On montre que le revêtement universel d’un tel espace est soit le produit de deux arbres, soit un immeuble de Tits euclidien de rang deux.
It is shown that the invertible polynomial maps over a finite
field Fq , if looked at as bijections Fn,q −→ Fn,q , give all possible bijections in
the case q = 2, or q = p^r where p > 2. In the case q = 2^r where r > 1
it is shown that the tame subgroup of the invertible polynomial maps gives
only the even bijections, i.e. only half the bijections. As a consequence it
is shown that a set S ⊂ Fn,q can be a zero set of a coordinate if and only if
#S = q^(n−1).
2010 Mathematics Subject Classification: 14L99, 14R10, 20B27.If F is a polynomial automorphism over a finite field Fq in dimension n, then it induces a permutation pqr(F) of (Fqr)n for every r О N*. We say that F can be “mimicked” by elements of a certain group of automorphisms G if there are gr О G such that pqr(gr) = pqr(F).
Derksen’s theorem in characteristic zero states that the tame automorphisms in dimension n і 3 are generated by the affine maps and the one map (x1+x22, x2,ј, xn). We show...
Let be an abelian semigroup, and a finite subset of . The sumset consists of all sums of elements of , with repetitions allowed. Let denote the cardinality of . Elementary lattice point arguments are used to prove that an arbitrary abelian semigroup has polynomial growth, that is, there exists a polynomial such that for all sufficiently large . Lattice point counting is also used to prove that sumsets of the form have multivariate polynomial growth.
Let L = X U Y be an oriented 2-component link in S3. In this paper we will define two different types of polynomials which are ambient isotopic invariants of L. One is associated with a cyclic cover branched along one of their components, an the other is associated with a metabelian cover of L. This invariants are defined for any link unless the linking number lk(X,Y), is ±1.
The fields defined by the polynomials constructed in E. Nart and the author in J. Number Theory 16, (1983), 6–13, Th. 2.1, with absolute Galois group the alternating group , can be embedded in any central extension of if and only if , or and is a sum of two squares. Consequently, for theses values of , every central extension of occurs as a Galois group over .
