A simple semi-recursive routine for nonlinearity recovery in Hammerstein systems is proposed. The identification scheme is based on the Haar wavelet kernel and possesses a simple and compact form. The convergence of the algorithm is established and the asymptotic rate of convergence (independent of the input density smoothness) is shown for piecewiseLipschitz nonlinearities. The numerical stability of the algorithm is verified. Simulation experiments for a small and moderate number of input-output...
A significant development of Web technologies requires the application of more and more complex systems and algorithms for maintaining high quality of Web services. Presently, not only simple decision-making tools but also complex adaptation algorithms using artificial intelligence techniques are applied for controlling HTTP request traffic. The paper presents a new LFNRD (Local Fuzzy-Neural Adaptive Request Distribution) algorithm for request distribution in cluster-based Web systems using neuro-fuzzy...
In this paper, the finite-time stabilization problem of chained form systems with parametric uncertainties is investigated. A novel switching control strategy is proposed for adaptive finite-time control design with the help of Lyapunov-based method and time-rescaling technique. With the proposed control law, the uncertain closed-loop system under consideration is finite-time stable within a given settling time. An illustrative example is also given to show the effectiveness of the proposed controller....
The paper discusses the complex, agent-oriented hierarchic memetic strategy (HMS) dedicated to solving inverse parametric problems. The strategy goes beyond the idea of two-phase global optimization algorithms. The global search performed by a tree of dependent demes is dynamically alternated with local, steepest descent searches. The strategy offers exceptionally low computational costs, mainly because the direct solver accuracy (performed by the hp-adaptive finite element method) is dynamically...
The paper presents procedures to check solvability and to compute solutions to the Block Decoupling Problem over a Noetherian ring and procedures to compute a feedback law that assigns the coefficients of the compensated system while mantaining the decoupled structure over a Principal Ideal Domain. The algorithms have been implemented using MapleV® and CoCoA [CoCoA].
In this paper, control-oriented modeling approaches are presented for distributed parameter systems. These systems, which are in the focus of this contribution, are assumed to be described by suitable partial differential equations. They arise naturally during the modeling of dynamic heat transfer processes. The presented approaches aim at developing finitedimensional system descriptions for the design of various open-loop, closed-loop, and optimal control strategies as well as state, disturbance,...
The problem of continuous position availability is one of the most important issues connected with the human activity at sea. Because the availability of satellite navigational systems can be limited in some cases, e.g. during military operations, one has to consider additional methods of acquiring information about the ship's position. In this paper one of these methods is presented, which is based on exploiting landmarks located on a coastline. A navigational radar is used to obtain information...
This paper addresses the synthesis problem of Jacobian inverse kinematics algorithms for stationary manipulators and mobile robots. Special attention is paid to the design of extended Jacobian algorithms that approximate the Jacobian pseudoinverse algorithm. Two approaches to the approximation problem are developed: one relies on variational calculus, the other is differential geometric. Example designs of the extended Jacobian inverse kinematics algorithm for 3DOF manipulators as well as for the...
In this paper we review the state of affairs in the area of approximation of large-scale systems. We distinguish three basic categories, namely the SVD-based, the Krylov-based and the SVD-Krylov-based approximation methods. The first two were developed independently of each other and have distinct sets of attributes and drawbacks. The third approach seeks to combine the best attributes of the first two.
Many researches have been interested in the approximation properties of Fuzzy Logic Systems (FLS), which, like neural networks, can be seen as approximation schemes. Almost all of them tackled the Mamdani fuzzy model, which was shown to have many interesting approximation features. However, only in few cases the Sugeno fuzzy model was considered. In this paper, we are interested in the zero-order Multi-Input-Multi-Output (MIMO) Sugeno fuzzy model with Beta membership functions. This leads to Beta...
Necessary and sufficient conditions are established for the existence of a solution to some bilateral polynomial matrix equations with unimodular right-hand-side matrices. A procedure for the computation of the solution is derived and illustrated by a numerical example. Two examples of applications of bilateral polynomial matrix equations are presented.
