Relative Gorenstein injective covers with respect to a semidualizing module

Elham Tavasoli, Maryam Salimi (2017)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring and let C be a semidualizing R -module. We prove a result about the covering properties of the class of relative Gorenstein injective modules with respect to C which is a generalization of Theorem 1 by Enochs and Iacob (2015). Specifically, we prove that if for every G C -injective module G , the character module G + is G C -flat, then the class 𝒢ℐ C ( R ) 𝒜 C ( R ) is closed under direct sums and direct limits. Also, it is proved that under the above hypotheses the class 𝒢ℐ C ( R ) 𝒜 C ( R ) ...

Finitistic dimension and restricted injective dimension

Dejun Wu (2015)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

We study the relations between finitistic dimensions and restricted injective dimensions. Let R be a ring and T a left R -module with A = End R T . If R T is selforthogonal, then we show that rid ( T A ) findim ( A A ) findim ( R T ) + rid ( T A ) . Moreover, if R is a left noetherian ring and T is a finitely generated left R -module with finite injective dimension, then rid ( T A ) findim ( A A ) fin . inj . dim ( R R ) + rid ( T A ) . Also we show by an example that the restricted injective dimensions of a module may be strictly smaller than the Gorenstein injective dimension.

On generalized CS-modules

Qingyi Zeng (2015)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

An 𝒮 -closed submodule of a module M is a submodule N for which M / N is nonsingular. A module M is called a generalized CS-module (or briefly, GCS-module) if any 𝒮 -closed submodule N of M is a direct summand of M . Any homomorphic image of a GCS-module is also a GCS-module. Any direct sum of a singular (uniform) module and a semi-simple module is a GCS-module. All nonsingular right R -modules are projective if and only if all right R -modules are GCS-modules.

On the minimaxness and coatomicness of local cohomology modules

Marzieh Hatamkhani, Hajar Roshan-Shekalgourabi (2022)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring, I an ideal of R and M an R -module. We wish to investigate the relation between vanishing, finiteness, Artinianness, minimaxness and 𝒞 -minimaxness of local cohomology modules. We show that if M is a minimax R -module, then the local-global principle is valid for minimaxness of local cohomology modules. This implies that if n is a nonnegative integer such that ( H I i ( M ) ) 𝔪 is a minimax R 𝔪 -module for all 𝔪 Max ( R ) and for all i < n , then the set Ass R ( H I n ( M ) ) is finite. Also, if H I i ( M ) is...

Let n , d be two non-negative integers. A left R -module M is called ( n , d ) -injective, if Ext d + 1 ( N , M ) = 0 for every n -presented left R -module N . A right R -module V is called ( n , d ) -flat, if Tor d + 1 ( V , N ) = 0 for every n -presented left R -module N . A left R -module M is called weakly n - F P -injective, if Ext n ( N , M ) = 0 for every ( n + 1 ) -presented left R -module N . A right R -module V is called weakly n -flat, if Tor n ( V , N ) = 0 for every ( n + 1 ) -presented left R -module N . In this paper, we give some characterizations and properties of ( n , d ) -injective modules and ( n , d ) -flat modules in...

On twisted group algebras of OTP representation type over the ring of p-adic integers

Colloquium Mathematicae

Similarity:

Let ̂ p be the ring of p-adic integers, U ( ̂ p ) the unit group of ̂ p and G = G p × B a finite group, where G p is a p-group and B is a p’-group. Denote by ̂ p λ G the twisted group algebra of G over ̂ p with a 2-cocycle λ Z ² ( G , U ( ̂ p ) ) . We give necessary and sufficient conditions for ̂ p λ G to be of OTP representation type, in the sense that every indecomposable ̂ p λ G -module is isomorphic to the outer tensor product V W of an indecomposable ̂ p λ G p -module V and an irreducible ̂ p λ B -module W.

Finite groups of OTP projective representation type

Let K be a field of characteristic p > 0, K* the multiplicative group of K and G = G p × B a finite group, where G p is a p-group and B is a p’-group. Denote by K λ G a twisted group algebra of G over K with a 2-cocycle λ ∈ Z²(G,K*). We give necessary and sufficient conditions for G to be of OTP projective K-representation type, in the sense that there exists a cocycle λ ∈ Z²(G,K*) such that every indecomposable K λ G -module is isomorphic to the outer tensor product V W of an indecomposable K λ G p -module...

Factorization of CP-rank- 3 completely positive matrices

Jan Brandts, Michal Křížek (2016)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

A symmetric positive semi-definite matrix A is called completely positive if there exists a matrix B with nonnegative entries such that A = B B . If B is such a matrix with a minimal number p of columns, then p is called the cp-rank of A . In this paper we develop a finite and exact algorithm to factorize any matrix A of cp-rank 3 . Failure of this algorithm implies that A does not have cp-rank 3 . Our motivation stems from the question if there exist three nonnegative polynomials of degree at...

Separable k -free modules with almost trivial dual

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Similarity:

An R -module M has an almost trivial dual if there are no epimorphisms from M to the free R -module of countable infinite rank R ( ω ) . For every natural number k > 1 , we construct arbitrarily large separable k -free R -modules with almost trivial dual by means of Shelah’s Easy Black Box, which is a combinatorial principle provable in ZFC.

Structure theory for the group algebra of the symmetric group, with applications to polynomial identities for the octonions

Murray R. Bremner, Sara Madariaga, Luiz A. Peresi (2016)

Similarity:

This is a survey paper on applications of the representation theory of the symmetric group to the theory of polynomial identities for associative and nonassociative algebras. In §1, we present a detailed review (with complete proofs) of the classical structure theory of the group algebra 𝔽 S n of the symmetric group S n over a field 𝔽 of characteristic 0 (or p > n ). The goal is to obtain a constructive version of the isomorphism ψ : λ M d λ ( 𝔽 ) 𝔽 S n where λ is a partition of n and d λ counts the standard tableaux...

Some bounds for the annihilators of local cohomology and Ext modules

Ali Fathi (2022)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

Let 𝔞 be an ideal of a commutative Noetherian ring R and t be a nonnegative integer. Let M and N be two finitely generated R -modules. In certain cases, we give some bounds under inclusion for the annihilators of Ext R t ( M , N ) and H 𝔞 t ( M ) in terms of minimal primary decomposition of the zero submodule of M , which are independent of the choice of minimal primary decomposition. Then, by using those bounds, we compute the annihilators of local cohomology and Ext modules in certain cases.
