On automorphisms of the Banach space / c

Piotr Koszmider, Cristóbal Rodríguez-Porras (2016)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

We investigate Banach space automorphisms T : / c / c focusing on the possibility of representing their fragments of the form T B , A : ( A ) / c ( A ) ( B ) / c ( B ) for A,B ⊆ ℕ infinite by means of linear operators from ( A ) into ( B ) , infinite A×B-matrices, continuous maps from B* = βB∖B into A*, or bijections from B to A. This leads to the analysis of general bounded linear operators on / c . We present many examples, introduce and investigate several classes of operators, for some of them we obtain satisfactory representations and for...

Polycyclic groups with automorphisms of order four

Tao Xu, Fang Zhou, Heguo Liu (2016)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

In this paper, we study the structure of polycyclic groups admitting an automorphism of order four on the basis of Neumann’s result, and prove that if α is an automorphism of order four of a polycyclic group G and the map ϕ : G G defined by g ϕ = [ g , α ] is surjective, then G contains a characteristic subgroup H of finite index such that the second derived subgroup H ' ' is included in the centre of H and C H ( α 2 ) is abelian, both C G ( α 2 ) and G / [ G , α 2 ] are abelian-by-finite. These results extend recent and classical results in...

A note on Skolem-Noether algebras

Juncheol Han, Tsiu-Kwen Lee, Sangwon Park (2021)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

The paper was motivated by Kovacs’ paper (1973), Isaacs’ paper (1980) and a recent paper, due to Brešar et al. (2018), concerning Skolem-Noether algebras. Let K be a unital commutative ring, not necessarily a field. Given a unital K -algebra S , where K is contained in the center of S , n , the goal of this paper is to study the question: when can a homomorphism φ : M n ( K ) M n ( S ) be extended to an inner automorphism of M n ( S ) ? As an application of main results presented in the paper, it is proved that if S is...

Bicrossed products of generalized Taft algebra and group algebras

Dingguo Wang, Xiangdong Cheng, Daowei Lu (2022)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

Let G be a group generated by a set of finite order elements. We prove that any bicrossed product H m , d ( q ) k [ G ] between the generalized Taft algebra H m , d ( q ) and group algebra k [ G ] is actually the smash product H m , d ( q ) k [ G ] . Then we show that the classification of these smash products could be reduced to the description of the group automorphisms of G . As an application, the classification of H m , d ( q ) k [ C n 1 × C n 2 ] is completely presented by generators and relations, where C n denotes the n -cyclic group.

Automorphisms of metacyclic groups

Haimiao Chen, Yueshan Xiong, Zhongjian Zhu (2018)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

A metacyclic group H can be presented as α , β : α n = 1 , β m = α t , β α β - 1 = α r for some n , m , t , r . Each endomorphism σ of H is determined by σ ( α ) = α x 1 β y 1 , σ ( β ) = α x 2 β y 2 for some integers x 1 , x 2 , y 1 , y 2 . We give sufficient and necessary conditions on x 1 , x 2 , y 1 , y 2 for σ to be an automorphism.

Non-isotropic Hausdorff capacity of exceptional sets for pluri-Green potentials in the unit ball of ℂⁿ

Kuzman Adzievski (2006)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

Similarity:

We study questions related to exceptional sets of pluri-Green potentials V μ in the unit ball B of ℂⁿ in terms of non-isotropic Hausdorff capacity. For suitable measures μ on the ball B, the pluri-Green potentials V μ are defined by V μ ( z ) = B l o g ( 1 / | ϕ z ( w ) | ) d μ ( w ) , where for a fixed z ∈ B, ϕ z denotes the holomorphic automorphism of B satisfying ϕ z ( 0 ) = z , ϕ z ( z ) = 0 and ( ϕ z ϕ z ) ( w ) = w for every w ∈ B. If dμ(w) = f(w)dλ(w), where f is a non-negative measurable function of B, and λ is the measure on B, invariant under all holomorphic automorphisms of...

C*-algebras have a quantitative version of Pełczyński's property (V)

Hana Krulišová (2017)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

A Banach space X has Pełczyński’s property (V) if for every Banach space Y every unconditionally converging operator T : X Y is weakly compact. H. Pfitzner proved that C * -algebras have Pełczyński’s property (V). In the preprint (Krulišová, (2015)) the author explores possible quantifications of the property (V) and shows that C ( K ) spaces for a compact Hausdorff space K enjoy a quantitative version of the property (V). In this paper we generalize this result by quantifying Pfitzner’s theorem. Moreover,...

-sums and the Banach space / c

Christina Brech, Piotr Koszmider (2014)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

This paper is concerned with the isomorphic structure of the Banach space / c and how it depends on combinatorial tools whose existence is consistent with but not provable from the usual axioms of ZFC. Our main global result is that it is consistent that / c does not have an orthogonal -decomposition, that is, it is not of the form ( X ) for any Banach space X. The main local result is that it is consistent that ( c ( ) ) does not embed isomorphically into / c , where is the cardinality of the continuum,...

Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France

Similarity:

Suppose A is a separable unital 𝒞 ( X ) -algebra each fibre of which is isomorphic to the same strongly self-absorbing and K 1 -injective C * -algebra 𝒟 . The weak Gelfand-Phillips property in spaces of compact operators

Ioana Ghenciu (2017)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Similarity:

For Banach spaces X and Y , let K w * ( X * , Y ) denote the space of all w * - w continuous compact operators from X * to Y endowed with the operator norm. A Banach space X has the w G P property if every Grothendieck subset of X is relatively weakly compact. In this paper we study Banach spaces with property w G P . We investigate whether the spaces K w * ( X * , Y ) and X ϵ Y have the w G P property, when X and Y have the w G P property.

Equidistribution towards the Green current for holomorphic maps

Similarity:

Let f be a non-invertible holomorphic endomorphism of a projective space and f n its iterate of order n . We prove that the pull-back by f n of a generic (in the Zariski sense) hypersurface, properly normalized, converges to the Green current associated to f when n tends to infinity. We also give an analogous result for the pull-back of positive closed ( 1 , 1 ) -currents and a similar result for regular polynomial automorphisms of  k .

In this paper, we define the direct sum ( i = 1 n X i ) c e s p of Banach spaces X₁,X₂,..., and Xₙ and consider it equipped with the Cesàro p-norm when 1 ≤ p < ∞. We show that ( i = 1 n X i ) c e s p has the H-property if and only if each X i has the H-property, and ( i = 1 n X i ) c e s p has the Schur property if and only if each X i has the Schur property. Moreover, we also show that ( i = 1 n X i ) c e s p is rotund if and only if each X i is rotund.

Similarity:

We show that for a linear space of operators ( 1 , 2 ) the following assertions are equivalent. (i) is reflexive in the sense of Loginov-Shulman. (ii) There exists an order-preserving map Ψ = ( ψ 1 , ψ 2 ) on a bilattice Bil ( ) of subspaces determined by with P ψ 1 ( P , Q ) and Q ψ 2 ( P , Q ) for any pair ( P , Q ) Bil ( ) , and such that an operator T ( 1 , 2 ) lies in if and only if ψ 2 ( P , Q ) T ψ 1 ( P , Q ) = 0 for all ( P , Q ) Bil ( ) . This extends the Erdos-Power type characterization of weakly closed bimodules over a nest algebra to reflexive spaces.
