The 𝒜 r -free products of archimedean l -groups

Dao Rong Tong (1998)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

The objective of this paper is to give two descriptions of the 𝒜 r -free products of archimedean -groups and to establish some properties for the 𝒜 r -free products. Specifically, it is proved that 𝒜 r -free products satisfy the weak subalgebra property.

The Redfield topology on some groups of continuous functions.

Nadal Batle Nicolau, Josep Grané Manlleu (1977)

Stochastica

The Redfield topology on the space of real-valued continuous functions on a topological space is studied (we call it R-topology for short). The R-neighbourhoods are described relating them to the connectedness for the carriers. The main results are: If the space is totally disconnected without isolated points, the R-topology is not discrete. Under suitable conditions on the space, R-convergence implies pointwise or uniform convergence. Under some restrictions, R-convergence for a net implies that...

The rings which are Boolean

Ivan Chajda, Filip Švrček (2011)

Discussiones Mathematicae - General Algebra and Applications

We study unitary rings of characteristic 2 satisfying identity x p = x for some natural number p. We characterize several infinite families of these rings which are Boolean, i.e., every element is idempotent. For example, it is in the case if p = 2 n - 2 or p = 2 n - 5 or p = 2 n + 1 for a suitable natural number n. Some other (more general) cases are solved for p expressed in the form 2 q + 2 m + 1 or 2 q + 2 m where q is a natural number and m 1 , 2 , . . . , 2 q - 1 .

The Rings Which Can Be Recovered by Means of the Difference

Ivan Chajda, Filip Švrček (2013)

Acta Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis. Facultas Rerum Naturalium. Mathematica

It is well known that to every Boolean ring can be assigned a Boolean algebra whose operations are term operations of . Then a symmetric difference of together with the meet operation recover the original ring operations of . The aim of this paper is to show for what a ring a similar construction is possible. Of course, we do not construct a Boolean algebra but only so-called lattice-like structure which was introduced and treated by the authors in a previous paper. In particular, we reached...

The Role of Halaš Identity in Orthomodular Lattices

Ivan Chajda (2014)

Acta Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis. Facultas Rerum Naturalium. Mathematica

We prove that a certain identity introduced by R. Halaš for classifying basic algebras can be used for characterizing orthomodular lattices in the class of ortholattices with antitone involutions on every principal filter.

The semiring of 1-preserving endomorphisms of a semilattice

Jaroslav Ježek, Tomáš Kepka (2009)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

We prove that the semirings of 1-preserving and of 0,1-preserving endomorphisms of a semilattice are always subdirectly irreducible and we investigate under which conditions they are simple. Subsemirings are also investigated in a similar way.

The sequential topology on complete Boolean algebras

Wiesław Główczyński, Bohuslav Balcar, Thomas Jech (1998)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We investigate the sequential topology τ s on a complete Boolean algebra B determined by algebraically convergent sequences in B. We show the role of weak distributivity of B in separation axioms for the sequential topology. The main result is that a necessary and sufficient condition for B to carry a strictly positive Maharam submeasure is that B is ccc and that the space ( B , τ s ) is Hausdorff. We also characterize sequential cardinals.

The Słupecki criterion by duality

Eszter K. Horváth (2001)

Discussiones Mathematicae - General Algebra and Applications

A method is presented for proving primality and functional completeness theorems, which makes use of the operation-relation duality. By the result of Sierpiński, we have to investigate relations generated by the two-element subsets of A k only. We show how the method applies for proving Słupecki’s classical theorem by generating diagonal relations from each pair of k-tuples.

The spectral test of the Boolean function linearity

Piotr Porwik (2003)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

The paper discusses the problem of recognizing the Boolean function linearity. A spectral method of the analysis of Boolean functions using the Walsh transform is described. Linearity and nonlinearity play important roles in the design of digital circuits. The analysis of the distribution of spectral coefficients allows us to determine various combinatorial properties of Boolean functions, such as redundancy, monotonicity, self-duality, correcting capability, etc., which seems more difficult be...
