We study the possible dimension vectors of indecomposable parabolic bundles on the projective line, and use our answer to solve the problem of characterizing those collections of conjugacy classes of n×n matrices for which one can find matrices in their closures whose product is equal to the identity matrix. Commutative Jordan algebras are used to drive an highly tractable framework for balanced factorial designs with a prime number p of levels for their factors. Both fixed effects and random effects models are treated. Sufficient complete statistics are obtained and used to derive UMVUE for the relevant parameters. Confidence regions are obtained and it is shown how to use duality for hypothesis testing.

Let 𝔄₃ denote the variety of alternative commutative (Jordan) algebras defined by the identity x³ = 0, and let 𝔖₂ be the subvariety of the variety 𝔄₃ of solvable algebras of solviability index 2. We present an infinite independent system of identities in the variety 𝔄₃ ∩ 𝔖₂𝔖₂.
