Some remarks on the continuity equation

This text is the act of a talk given november 18 2008 at the seminar PDE of Ecole Polytechnique. The text is not completely faithfull to the oral exposition for I have taken this opportunity to present the proofs of some results that are not easy to find in the literature. On the other hand, I have been less precise on the material for which I found good references. Most of the novelties presented here come from a joined work with Luigi Ambrosio.

Uniqueness results for the Minkowski problem extended to hedgehogs

The classical Minkowski problem has a natural extension to hedgehogs, that is to Minkowski differences of closed convex hypersurfaces. This extended Minkowski problem is much more difficult since it essentially boils down to the question of solutions of certain Monge-Ampère equations of mixed type on the unit sphere 𝕊 n of ℝn+1. In this paper, we mainly consider the uniqueness question and give first results.

Weak-strong uniqueness for a class of degenerate parabolic cross-diffusion systems

Bounded weak solutions to a particular class of degenerate parabolic cross-diffusion systems are shown to coincide with the unique strong solution determined by the same initial condition on the maximal existence interval of the latter. The proof relies on an estimate established for a relative entropy associated to the system.

The coupled Navier-Stokes/Allen-Cahn system is a simple model to describe phase separation in two-component systems interacting with an incompressible fluid flow. The paper concerns uniqueness of weak solutions to non-Newtonian fluids with nonstandard growth conditions for the Cauchy stress tensor.
