On closed subgroups of the group of homeomorphisms of a manifold

Frédéric Le Roux (2014)

Journal de l’École polytechnique — Mathématiques

Let M be a triangulable compact manifold. We prove that, among closed subgroups of Homeo 0 ( M ) (the identity component of the group of homeomorphisms of M ), the subgroup consisting of volume preserving elements is maximal.

On commuting polynomial automorphisms of C2.

Cinzia Bisi (2004)

Publicacions Matemàtiques

We charocterize the commuting polynomial automorphisms of C2, using their meromorphic extension to P2 and looking at their dynamics on the line at infinity.

On complexification and iteration of quasiregular polynomials which have algebraic degree two

Ewa Ligocka (2005)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We prove that each degree two quasiregular polynomial is conjugate to Q(z) = z² - (p+q)|z|² + pqz̅² + c, |p| < 1, |q| < 1. We also show that the complexification of Q can be extended to a polynomial endomorphism of ℂℙ² which acts as a Blaschke product (z-p)/(1-p̅z) · (z-q)/(1-q̅z) on ℂℙ²∖ℂ². Using this fact we study the dynamics of Q under iteration.

On condensing discrete dynamical systems

Valter Šeda (2000)

Mathematica Bohemica

In the paper the fundamental properties of discrete dynamical systems generated by an α -condensing mapping ( α is the Kuratowski measure of noncompactness) are studied. The results extend and deepen those obtained by M. A. Krasnosel’skij and A. V. Lusnikov in [21]. They are also applied to study a mathematical model for spreading of an infectious disease investigated by P. Takac in [35], [36].

On conjugacy equation in dimension one

Krzysztof Ciepliński, Zbigniew Leśniak (2013)

Banach Center Publications

In this paper, recent results on the existence and uniqueness of (continuous and homeomorphic) solutions φ of the equation φ ∘ f = g ∘ φ (f and g are given self-maps of an interval or the circle) are surveyed. Some applications of these results as well as the outcomes concerning systems of such equations are also presented.

On control theory and its applications to certain problems for Lagrangian systems. On hyperimpulsive motions for these. II. Some purely mathematical considerations for hyper-impulsive motions. Applications to Lagrangian systems

Aldo Bressan (1988)

Atti della Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali. Rendiconti Lincei. Matematica e Applicazioni

See Summary in Note I. First, on the basis of some results in [2] or [5]-such as Lemmas 8.1 and 10.1-the general (mathematical) theorems on controllizability proved in Note I are quickly applied to (mechanic) Lagrangian systems. Second, in case Σ , χ and M satisfy conditions (11.7) when 𝒬 is a polynomial in γ ˙ , conditions (C)-i.e. (11.8) and (11.7) with 𝒬 0 -are proved to be necessary for treating satisfactorily Σ 's hyper-impulsive motions (in which positions can suffer first order discontinuities)....
