On the Fourier Transformation of Positive, Positive Definite Measure on Commutative Hypergroups, and Dual Convolution Structures.
Let be a group endowed with a length function , and let be a linear subspace of . We say that satisfies the Haagerup inequality if there exists constants such that, for any , the convolutor norm of on is dominated by times the norm of . We show that, for , the Haagerup inequality can be expressed in terms of decay of random walks associated with finitely supported symmetric probability measures on . If is a word length function on a finitely generated group , we show that,...
We characterize finitely generated abelian semigroups such that every completely positive definite function (a function all of whose shifts are positive definite) is an integral of nonnegative miltiplicative real-valued functions (called nonnegative characters).
We give a simple proof of the sufficiency of a log-lipschitzian condition for the uniqueness of G-measures and g-measures which were studied by G. Brown, A. H. Dooley and M. Keane. In the opposite direction, we show that the lipschitzian condition together with positivity is not sufficient. In the special case where the defining function depends only upon two coordinates, we find a necessary and sufficient condition. The special case of Riesz products is discussed and the Hausdorff dimension of...
Let be a symmetric α-stable semigroup of probability measures on a homogeneous group N, where 0 < α < 2. Assume that are absolutely continuous with respect to Haar measure and denote by the corresponding densities. We show that the estimate , x≠0, holds true with some integrable function Ω on the unit sphere Σ if and only if the density of the Lévy measure of the semigroup belongs locally to the Zygmund class LlogL(N╲e). The problem turns out to be related to the properties of the maximal...
