The purpose of this note is to show how calculi on unital associative algebra with universal right bimodule generalize previously studied constructions by Pusz and Woronowicz [1989] and by Wess and Zumino [1990] and that in this language results are in a natural context, are easier to describe and handle. As a by-product we obtain intrinsic, coordinate-free and basis-independent generalization of the first order noncommutative differential calculi with partial derivatives.
It is shown, using geometric methods, that there is a C*-algebraic quantum group related to any double Lie group (also known as a matched pair of Lie groups or a bicrossproduct Lie group). An algebra underlying this quantum group is the algebra of a differential groupoid naturally associated with the double Lie group.
The generalized non-commutative torus of rank n is defined by the crossed product , where the actions of ℤ on the fibre of a rational rotation algebra are trivial, and is a non-commutative torus . It is shown that is strongly Morita equivalent to , and that is isomorphic to if and only if the set of prime factors of k is a subset of the set of prime factors of p.
Let A be a unital C*-algebra. Denote by P the space of selfadjoint projections of A. We study the relationship between P and the spaces of projections determined by the different involutions induced by positive invertible elements a ∈ A. The maps sending p to the unique with the same range as p and sending q to the unitary part of the polar decomposition of the symmetry 2q-1 are shown to be diffeomorphisms. We characterize the pairs of idempotents q,r ∈ A with ||q-r|| < 1 such that...
In this overview, we study how to reduce the index pairing for a fibre-product C*-algebra to the index pairing for the C*-algebra over which the fibre product is taken. As an example we analyze the case of suspensions and apply it to noncommutative instanton bundles of arbitrary charges over the suspension of quantum deformations of the 3-sphere.
We study dimensional left-covariant differential calculi on the quantum group . In this way we obtain four classes of differential calculi which are algebraically much simpler as the bicovariant calculi. The algebra generated by the left-invariant vector fields has only quadratic-linear relations and posesses a Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt basis. We use the concept of universal (higher order) differential calculus associated with a given left-covariant first order differential calculus. It turns out...
The notion of deformation quantization was introduced by F.Bayen, M.Flato et al. in [1]. The basic idea is to formally deform the pointwise commutative multiplication in the space of smooth functions on a symplectic manifold to a noncommutative associative multiplication, whose first order commutator is proportional to the Poisson bracket. It is of interest to compute this quantization for naturally occuring cases. In this paper, we discuss deformations of contact algebras and give a definition...
We introduce noncommutative extensions of the Fourier transform of probability measures and its logarithm to the algebra (S) of complex-valued functions on the free semigroup S = FS(z,w) on two generators. First, to given probability measures μ, ν with all moments finite, we associate states μ̂, ν̂ on the unital free *-bialgebra (ℬ,ε,Δ) on two self-adjoint generators X,X’ and a projection P. Then we introduce and study cumulants which are additive under the convolution μ̂* ν̂ = μ̂ ⊗ ν̂ ∘ Δ when...
We define an operator α on ℂ³ ⊗ ℂ³ associated with the quantum group , which satisfies the Yang-Baxter equation and a cubic equation (α² - 1)(α + q²) = 0. This operator can be extended to a family of operators on with 0 ≤ j ≤ n - 2. These operators generate the cubic Hecke algebra associated with the quantum group . The purpose of this note is to present the construction.
We discuss a recent approach to quantum field theoretical path integration on noncommutative geometries which imply UV/IR regularising finite minimal uncertainties in positions and/or momenta. One class of such noncommutative geometries arise as `momentum spaces' over curved spaces, for which we can now give the full set of commutation relations in coordinate free form, based on the Synge world function.
