A noncommutative 2-sphere generated by the quantum complex plane

Ismael Cohen, Elmar Wagner (2012)

Banach Center Publications

S. L. Woronowicz's theory of C*-algebras generated by unbounded elements is applied to q-normal operators satisfying the defining relation of the quantum complex plane. The unique non-degenerate C*-algebra of bounded operators generated by a q-normal operator is computed and an abstract description is given by using crossed product algebras. If the spectrum of the modulus of the q-normal operator is the positive half line, this C*-algebra will be considered as the algebra of continuous functions...

A Note on Free Quantum Groups

Teodor Banica (2008)

Annales mathématiques Blaise Pascal

We study the free complexification operation for compact quantum groups, G G c . We prove that, with suitable definitions, this induces a one-to-one correspondence between free orthogonal quantum groups of infinite level, and free unitary quantum groups satisfying G = G c .

Actions of monoidally equivalent compact quantum groups and applications to probabilistic boundaries

An De Rijdt, Nikolas Vander Vennet (2010)

Annales de l’institut Fourier

The notion of monoidal equivalence for compact quantum groups was recently introduced by Bichon, De Rijdt and Vaes. In this paper we prove that there is a natural bijective correspondence between actions of monoidally equivalent quantum groups on unital C * -algebras or on von Neumann algebras. This correspondence turns out to be very useful to obtain the behavior of Poisson and Martin boundaries under monoidal equivalence of quantum groups. Finally, we apply these results to identify the Poisson boundary...

Cohomologie de Hochschild des graphes de Kontsevich

Didier Arnal, Mohsen Masmoudi (2002)

Deformation Theory (Lecture Notes)

M. Doubek, Martin Markl, Petr Zima (2007)

Archivum Mathematicum

First three sections of this overview paper cover classical topics of deformation theory of associative algebras and necessary background material. We then analyze algebraic structures of the Hochschild cohomology and describe the relation between deformations and solutions of the corresponding Maurer-Cartan equation. In Section  we generalize the Maurer-Cartan equation to strongly homotopy Lie algebras and prove the homotopy invariance of the moduli space of solutions of this equation. In the last...

Differential calculi over quantum groups

G. J. Murphy (2003)

Banach Center Publications

An exposition is given of recent work of the author and others on the differential calculi that occur in the setting of compact quantum groups. The principal topics covered are twisted graded traces, an extension of Connes' cyclic cohomology, invariant linear functionals on covariant calculi and the Hodge, Dirac and Laplace operators in this setting. Some new results extending the classical de Rham theorem and Poincaré duality are also discussed.

Idempotent States and the Inner Linearity Property

Teodor Banica, Uwe Franz, Adam Skalski (2012)

Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Mathematics

We find an analytic formulation of the notion of Hopf image, in terms of the associated idempotent state. More precisely, if π:A → Mₙ(ℂ) is a finite-dimensional representation of a Hopf C*-algebra, we prove that the idempotent state associated to its Hopf image A' must be the convolution Cesàro limit of the linear functional φ = tr ∘ π. We then discuss some consequences of this result, notably to inner linearity questions.

Invariants of the half-liberated orthogonal group

Teodor Banica, Roland Vergnioux (2010)

Annales de l’institut Fourier

The half-liberated orthogonal group O n * appears as intermediate quantum group between the orthogonal group O n , and its free version O n + . We discuss here its basic algebraic properties, and we classify its irreducible representations. The classification of representations is done by using a certain twisting-type relation between O n * and U n , a non abelian discrete group playing the role of weight lattice, and a number of methods inspired from the theory of Lie algebras. We use these results for showing that...

Morita equivalence of measured quantum groupoids. Application to deformation of measured quantum groupoids by 2-cocycles

Michel Enock (2012)

Banach Center Publications

In a recent article, Kenny De Commer investigated Morita equivalence between locally compact quantum groups, in which a measured quantum groupoid, of basis ℂ², was constructed as a linking object. Here, we generalize all these constructions and concepts to the level of measured quantum groupoids. As for locally compact quantum groups, we apply this construction to the deformation of a measured quantum groupoid by a 2-cocycle.

On the quantum groups and semigroups of maps between noncommutative spaces

Maysam Maysami Sadr (2017)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

We define algebraic families of (all) morphisms which are purely algebraic analogs of quantum families of (all) maps introduced by P. M. Sołtan. Also, algebraic families of (all) isomorphisms are introduced. By using these notions we construct two classes of Hopf-algebras which may be interpreted as the quantum group of all maps from a finite space to a quantum group, and the quantum group of all automorphisms of a finite noncommutative (NC) space. As special cases three classes of NC objects are...

Poisson boundaries of discrete quantum groups

Reiji Tomatsu (2010)

Banach Center Publications

This is a survey article about a theory of a Poisson boundary associated with a discrete quantum group. The main problem of the theory, that is, the identification problem is explained and solved for some examples.

Quantization and Morita equivalence for constant Dirac structures on tori

Xiang Tang, Alan Weinstein (2004)

Annales de l’institut Fourier

We define a C * -algebraic quantization of constant Dirac structures on tori and prove that O ( n , n | ) -equivalent structures have Morita equivalent quantizations. This completes and extends from the Poisson case a theorem of Rieffel and Schwarz.

Quantum lens spaces and principal actions on graph C*-algebras

Wojciech Szymański (2003)

Banach Center Publications

We study certain principal actions on noncommutative C*-algebras. Our main examples are the p - and -actions on the odd-dimensional quantum spheres, yielding as fixed-point algebras quantum lens spaces and quantum complex projective spaces, respectively. The key tool in our analysis is the relation of the ambient C*-algebras with the Cuntz-Krieger algebras of directed graphs. A general result about the principality of the gauge action on graph algebras is given.
