Continuous images and other topological properties of Valdivia compacta

Ondřej Kalenda (1999)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We study topological properties of Valdivia compact spaces. We prove in particular that a compact Hausdorff space K is Corson provided each continuous image of K is a Valdivia compactum. This answers a question of M. Valdivia (1997). We also prove that the class of Valdivia compacta is stable with respect to arbitrary products and we give a generalization of the fact that Corson compacta are angelic.

Diagonals of separately continuous functions of n variables with values in strongly σ -metrizable spaces

Olena Karlova, Volodymyr Mykhaylyuk, Oleksandr Sobchuk (2016)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

We prove the result on Baire classification of mappings f : X × Y Z which are continuous with respect to the first variable and belongs to a Baire class with respect to the second one, where X is a P P -space, Y is a topological space and Z is a strongly σ -metrizable space with additional properties. We show that for any topological space X , special equiconnected space Z and a mapping g : X Z of the ( n - 1 ) -th Baire class there exists a strongly separately continuous mapping f : X n Z with the diagonal g . For wide classes of spaces...

Embedding of the ordinal segment [ 0 , ω 1 ] into continuous images of Valdivia compacta

Ondřej F. K. Kalenda (1999)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

We prove in particular that a continuous image of a Valdivia compact space is Corson provided it contains no homeomorphic copy of the ordinal segment [ 0 , ω 1 ] . This generalizes a result of R. Deville and G. Godefroy who proved it for Valdivia compact spaces. We give also a refinement of their result which yields a pointwise version of retractions on a Valdivia compact space.

Equiconnected spaces and Baire classification of separately continuous functions and their analogs

Olena Karlova, Volodymyr Maslyuchenko, Volodymyr Mykhaylyuk (2012)

Open Mathematics

We investigate the Baire classification of mappings f: X × Y → Z, where X belongs to a wide class of spaces which includes all metrizable spaces, Y is a topological space, Z is an equiconnected space, which are continuous in the first variable. We show that for a dense set in X these mappings are functions of a Baire class α in the second variable.

Exponential domination in function spaces

Vladimir Vladimirovich Tkachuk (2020)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Given a Tychonoff space X and an infinite cardinal κ , we prove that exponential κ -domination in X is equivalent to exponential κ -cofinality of C p ( X ) . On the other hand, exponential κ -cofinality of X is equivalent to exponential κ -domination in C p ( X ) . We show that every exponentially κ -cofinal space X has a κ + -small diagonal; besides, if X is κ -stable, then n w ( X ) κ . In particular, any compact exponentially κ -cofinal space has weight not exceeding κ . We also establish that any exponentially κ -cofinal space X with...

Function space topologies deriving from hypertopologies and networks

A. Di Concilio, A. Miranda (2001)

Bollettino dell'Unione Matematica Italiana
