Let be a transition semigroup of the Hilbert space-valued nonsymmetric Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process and let denote its Gaussian invariant measure. We show that the semigroup is analytic in if and only if its generator is variational. In particular, we show that the transition semigroup of a finite dimensional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process is analytic if and only if the Wiener process is nondegenerate.
A general multistage stochastic programming problem can be introduced as a finite system of parametric (one-stage) optimization problems with an inner type of dependence. Evidently, this type of the problems is rather complicated and, consequently, it can be mostly solved only approximately. The aim of the paper is to suggest some approximation solution schemes. To this end a restriction to the Markov type of dependence is supposed.
Geometric random sums arise in various applied problems like physics, biology, economics, risk processes, stochastic finance, queuing theory, reliability models, regenerative models, etc. Their asymptotic behaviors with convergence rates become a big subject of interest. The main purpose of this paper is to study the asymptotic behaviors of normalized geometric random sums of independent and identically distributed random variables via Gnedenko's Transfer Theorem. Moreover, using the Zolotarev probability...
If ξ(t) is the solution of homogeneous SDE in R m, and T ∃ is the first exit moment of the process from a small domain D ∃, then the total expansion for the following functional showing independence of the exit time and exit place is
The second author had previously obtained explicit generating functions for moments of characteristic polynomials of permutation matrices ( points). In this paper, we generalize many aspects of this situation. We introduce random shifts of the eigenvalues of the permutation matrices, in two different ways: independently or not for each subset of eigenvalues associated to the same cycle. We also consider vastly more general functions than the characteristic polynomial of a permutation matrix, by...
We consider the problem of valuation of American (call and put) options written on a dividend paying stock governed by the geometric Brownian motion. We show that the value function has two different but related representations: by means of a solution of some nonlinear backward stochastic differential equation, and by a weak solution to some semilinear partial differential equation.
