Palm theory for random time changes.
This paper analyses an M/G/1 retrial queue with working vacation and constant retrial policy. As soon as the system becomes empty, the server begins a working vacation. The server works with different service rates rather than completely stopping service during a vacation. We construct the mathematical model and derive the steady-state queue distribution of number of customer in the retrial group. The effects of various performance measures are derived.
We consider the hexagonal circle packing with radius and perturb it by letting the circles move as independent Brownian motions for time . It is shown that, for large enough , if is the point process given by the center of the circles at time , then, as , the critical radius for circles centered at to contain an infinite component converges to that of continuum percolation (which was shown – based on a Monte Carlo estimate – by Balister, Bollobás and Walters to be strictly bigger than...
We consider a left-transient random walk in a random environment on that will be disturbed by cookies inducing a drift to the right of strength 1. The number of cookies per site is i.i.d. and independent of the environment. Criteria for recurrence and transience of the random walk are obtained. For this purpose we use subcritical branching processes in random environments with immigration and formulate criteria for recurrence and transience for these processes.
