We deal with the numerical simulation of a motion of viscous compressible fluids. We discretize the governing Navier–Stokes equations by the backward difference formula – discontinuous Galerkin finite element (BDF-DGFE) method, which exhibits a sufficiently stable, efficient and accurate numerical scheme.
