Lectures on generalized complex geometry and supersymmetry

Maxim Zabzine (2006)

Archivum Mathematicum

These are the lecture notes from the 26th Winter School “Geometry and Physics", Czech Republic, Srní, January 14 – 21, 2006. These lectures are an introduction into the realm of generalized geometry based on the tangent plus the cotangent bundle. In particular we discuss the relation of this geometry to physics, namely to two-dimensional field theories. We explain in detail the relation between generalized complex geometry and supersymmetry. We briefly review the generalized Kähler and generalized...

Lie algebraic characterization of manifolds

Janusz Grabowski, Norbert Poncin (2004)

Open Mathematics

Results on characterization of manifolds in terms of certain Lie algebras growing on them, especially Lie algebras of differential operators, are reviewed and extended. In particular, we prove that a smooth (real-analytic, Stein) manifold is characterized by the corresponding Lie algebra of linear differential operators, i.e. isomorphisms of such Lie algebras are induced by the appropriate class of diffeomorphisms of the underlying manifolds.

Lie-Rinehart algebras, Gerstenhaber algebras and Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras

Johannes Huebschmann (1998)

Annales de l'institut Fourier

For any Lie-Rinehart algebra ( A , L ) , B(atalin)-V(ilkovisky) algebra structures on the exterior A -algebra Λ A L correspond bijectively to right ( A , L ) -module structures on A ; likewise, generators for the Gerstenhaber algebra Λ A L correspond bijectively to right ( A , L ) -connections on A . When L is projective as an A -module, given a B-V algebra structure on Λ A L , the homology of the B-V algebra ( Λ A L , ) coincides with the homology of L with coefficients in A with reference to the right ( A , L ) -module structure determined by . When...

Linear hamiltonian circle actions that generate minimal Hilbert bases

Ágúst Sverrir Egilsson (2000)

Annales de l'institut Fourier

The orbit space of a linear Hamiltonian circle action and the reduced orbit space, at zero, are examples of singular Poisson spaces. The orbit space inherits the Poisson algebra of functions invariant under the linear circle action and the reduced orbit space inherits the Poisson algebra obtained by restricting the invariant functions to the reduced space. Both spaces reside inside smooth manifolds, which in turn inherit almost Poisson structures from the Poisson varieties. In this paper we consider...

Linearization and star products

Veronique Chloup (2000)

Banach Center Publications

The aim of this paper is to give an overview concerning the problem of linearization of Poisson structures, more precisely we give results concerning Poisson-Lie groups and we apply those cohomological techniques to star products.

Logarithmic Poisson cohomology: example of calculation and application to prequantization

Joseph Dongho (2012)

Annales de la faculté des sciences de Toulouse Mathématiques

In this paper we introduce the notions of logarithmic Poisson structure and logarithmic principal Poisson structure. We prove that the latter induces a representation by logarithmic derivation of the module of logarithmic Kähler differentials. Therefore it induces a differential complex from which we derive the notion of logarithmic Poisson cohomology. We prove that Poisson cohomology and logarithmic Poisson cohomology are equal when the Poisson structure is log symplectic. We give an example of...

Modular classes of Q-manifolds: a review and some applications

Andrew James Bruce (2017)

Archivum Mathematicum

A Q-manifold is a supermanifold equipped with an odd vector field that squares to zero. The notion of the modular class of a Q-manifold – which is viewed as the obstruction to the existence of a Q-invariant Berezin volume – is not well know. We review the basic ideas and then apply this technology to various examples, including L -algebroids and higher Poisson manifolds.

Multiplicative integrable models from Poisson-Nijenhuis structures

Francesco Bonechi (2015)

Banach Center Publications

We discuss the role of Poisson-Nijenhuis (PN) geometry in the definition of multiplicative integrable models on symplectic groupoids. These are integrable models that are compatible with the groupoid structure in such a way that the set of contour levels of the hamiltonians in involution inherits a topological groupoid structure. We show that every maximal rank PN structure defines such a model. We consider the examples defined on compact hermitian symmetric spaces studied by F. Bonechi, J. Qiu...

Nambu-Poisson Tensors on Lie Groups

Nobutada Nakanishi (2000)

Banach Center Publications

First as an application of the local structure theorem for Nambu-Poisson tensors, we characterize them in terms of differential forms. Secondly left invariant Nambu-Poisson tensors on Lie groups are considered.

Natural vector fields and 2-vector fields on the tangent bundle of a pseudo-Riemannian manifold

Josef Janyška (2001)

Archivum Mathematicum

Let M be a differentiable manifold with a pseudo-Riemannian metric g and a linear symmetric connection K . We classify all natural (in the sense of [KMS]) 0-order vector fields and 2-vector fields on T M generated by g and K . We get that all natural vector fields are of the form E ( u ) = α ( h ( u ) ) u H + β ( h ( u ) ) u V , where u V is the vertical lift of u T x M , u H is the horizontal lift of u with respect to K , h ( u ) = 1 / 2 g ( u , u ) and α , β are smooth real functions defined on R . All natural 2-vector fields are of the form Λ ( u ) = γ 1 ( h ( u ) ) Λ ( g , K ) + γ 2 ( h ( u ) ) u H u V , where γ 1 , γ 2 are smooth real functions defined...

Non-decomposable Nambu brackets

Klaus Bering (2015)

Archivum Mathematicum

It is well-known that the Fundamental Identity (FI) implies that Nambu brackets are decomposable, i.e. given by a determinantal formula. We find a weaker alternative to the FI that allows for non-decomposable Nambu brackets, but still yields a Darboux-like Theorem via a Nambu-type generalization of Weinstein’s splitting principle for Poisson manifolds.

On characterization of Poisson and Jacobi structures

Janusz Grabowski, Paweŀ Urbański (2003)

Open Mathematics

We characterize Poisson and Jacobi structures by means of complete lifts of the corresponding tensors: the lifts have to be related to canonical structures by morphisms of corresponding vector bundles. Similar results hold for generalized Poisson and Jacobi structures (canonical structures) associated with Lie algebroids and Jacobi algebroids.
