Cubic surfaces with a Galois invariant double-six

Andreas-Stephan Elsenhans, Jörg Jahnel (2010)

Open Mathematics

We present a method to construct non-singular cubic surfaces over ℚ with a Galois invariant double-six. We start with cubic surfaces in the hexahedral form of L. Cremona and Th. Reye. For these, we develop an explicit version of Galois descent.

Curves on a ruled cubic surface.

John Brevik, Francesco Mordasini (2003)

Collectanea Mathematica

For the general ruled cubic surface S (with a double line) in P3 = P3 sub k, k any algebraically closed field, we find necessary conditions for which curves on S can be the specialization of a flat family of curves on smooth cubics. In particular, no smooth curve of degree > 10 on S is such a specialization.

Exceptional singular -homology planes

Karol Palka (2011)

Annales de l’institut Fourier

We consider singular -acyclic surfaces with smooth locus of non-general type. We prove that if the singularities are topologically rational then the smooth locus is 1 - or * -ruled or the surface is up to isomorphism one of two exceptional surfaces of Kodaira dimension zero. For both exceptional surfaces the Kodaira dimension of the smooth locus is zero and the singular locus consists of a unique point of type A 1 and A 2 respectively.

Foliations in algebraic surfaces having a rational first integral.

Alexis García Zamora (1997)

Publicacions Matemàtiques

Given a foliation F in an algebraic surface having a rational first integral a genus formula for the general solution is obtained. In the case S = P2 some new counter-examples to the classic formulation of the Poincaré problem are presented. If S is a rational surface and F has singularities of type (1, 1) or (1,-1) we prove that the general solution is a non-singular curve.
