On Gelfand-Zetlin modules

Drozd, Yu. A., Ovsienko, S. A., Futorny, V. M. (1991)

Proceedings of the Winter School "Geometry and Physics"

[For the entire collection see Zbl 0742.00067.]Let 𝔤 k be the Lie algebra 𝔤 l ( k , 𝒞 ) , and let U k be the universal enveloping algebra for 𝔤 k . Let Z k be the center of U k . The authors consider the chain of Lie algebras 𝔤 n 𝔤 n - 1 𝔤 1 . Then Z = Z k k = 1 , 2 , n is an associative algebra which is called the Gel’fand-Zetlin subalgebra of U n . A 𝔤 n module V is called a G Z -module if V = x V ( x ) , where the summation is over the space of characters of Z and V ( x ) = { v V ( a - x ( a ) ) m v = 0 , m 𝒵 + , a 𝒵 } . The authors describe several properties of G Z - modules. For example, they prove that if V ( x ) = 0 for some x ...

Mohamed Akkouchi, Allal Bakali, Belaid Bouikhalene, El Houcien El Qorachi (2006)

Extracta Mathematicae

Let G be a locally compact group. Let σ be a continuous involution of G and let μ be a complex bounded measure. In this paper we study the generalized d'Alembert functional equationD(μ)    ∫G f(xty)dμ(t) + ∫G f(xtσ(y))dμ(t) = 2f(x)f(y) x, y ∈ G;where f: G → C to be determined is a measurable and essentially bounded function.

On group representations whose C * algebra is an ideal in its von Neumann algebra

Edmond E. Granirer (1979)

Annales de l'institut Fourier

Let τ be a continuous unitary representation of the locally compact group G on the Hilbert space H τ . Let C τ * [ V N τ ] be the C * [ W * ] algebra generated by ( L 1 ( G ) ) and M τ ( C τ * ) = φ V N τ ; φ C τ * + C τ * φ C τ * . The main result obtained in this paper is Theorem 1:If G is σ -compact and M τ ( C τ * ) = V N τ then supp τ is discrete and each π in supp τ in CCR.We apply this theorem to the quasiregular representation τ = π H and obtain among other results that M π H ( C π H * ) = V N π H implies in many cases that G / H is a compact coset space.

On groups with linear sci growth

Louis Funar, Martha Giannoudovardi, Daniele Ettore Otera (2015)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We prove that the semistability growth of hyperbolic groups is linear, which implies that hyperbolic groups which are sci (simply connected at infinity) have linear sci growth. Based on the linearity of the end-depth of finitely presented groups we show that the linear sci is preserved under amalgamated products over finitely generated one-ended groups. Eventually one proves that most non-uniform lattices have linear sci.

On hereditarily normal topological groups

(2012)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We investigate hereditarily normal topological groups and their subspaces. We prove that every compact subspace of a hereditarily normal topological group is metrizable. To prove this statement we first show that a hereditarily normal topological group with a non-trivial convergent sequence has G δ -diagonal. This implies, in particular, that every countably compact subspace of a hereditarily normal topological group with a non-trivial convergent sequence is metrizable. Another corollary is that under...

On hierarchy of the positioned eco-grammar systems

Miroslav Langer (2014)

Kybernetika

Positioned eco-grammar systems (PEG systems, for short) were introduced in our previous papers. In this paper we engage in a new field of research, the hierarchy of PEG systems, namely in the hierarchy of the PEG systems according to the number of agents presented in the environment and according to the number of types of agents in the system.

On infinite Lie groups

Alexandre A. Martins Rodrigues (1981)

Annales de l'institut Fourier

Under some regularity conditions one proves that quotients and kernels of infinitesimal analytic Lie pseudo-groups by invariant fiberings are again infinitesimal Lie pseudo-groups. The regularity conditions are shown to be necessary and sufficient if one wishes both quotient and kernel to be infinitesimal Lie pseudo-groups. One defines and proves the existence of the quotient of an infinitesimal Lie pseudo-group by a normal sub-pseudo group. An equivalence relation for germs of infinitesimal Lie...
