Problems from probability theory
We prove three results concerning convolution operators and lacunary maximal functions associated to dilates of measures. First we obtain an H¹ to bound for lacunary maximal operators under a dimensional assumption on the underlying measure and an assumption on an regularity bound for some p > 1. Secondly, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for L² boundedness of lacunary maximal operator associated to averages over convex curves in the plane. Finally we prove an regularity result...
An RD-space is a space of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss with the additional property that a reverse doubling property holds. The authors prove that for a space of homogeneous type having “dimension” , there exists a such that for certain classes of distributions, the quasi-norms of their radial maximal functions and grand maximal functions are equivalent when . This result yields a radial maximal function characterization for Hardy spaces on .
The aim of this article is to present “refined” Hardy-type inequalities. Those inequalities are generalisations of the usual Hardy inequalities, their additional feature being that they are invariant under oscillations: when applied to highly oscillatory functions, both sides of the refined inequality are of the same order of magnitude. The proof relies on paradifferential calculus and Besov spaces. It is also adapted to the case of the Heisenberg group.
In this paper, the authors introduce a kind of local Hardy spaces in Rn associated with the local Herz spaces. Then the authors investigate the regularity in these local Hardy spaces of some nonlinear quantities on superharmonic functions on R2. The main results of the authors extend the corresponding results of Evans and Müller in a recent paper.
For s>0, we consider bounded linear operators from into whose kernels K satisfy the conditions for x≠y, |γ|≤ [s]+1, for |γ|=[s], x≠y. We establish a new criterion for the boundedness of these operators from into the homogeneous Sobolev space . This is an extension of the well-known T(1) Theorem due to David and Journé. Our arguments make use of the function T(1) and the BMO-Sobolev space. We give some applications to the Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin spaces as well as some other potential...
Elementary estimates for the Riesz kernel and for its derivative are given. Using these we show that the maximal operator of the Riesz means of a tempered distribution is bounded from to (1/(α+1) < p < ∞) and is of weak type (1,1), where is the classical Hardy space. As a consequence we deduce that the Riesz means of a function converge a.e. to ⨍. Moreover, we prove that the Riesz means are uniformly bounded on whenever 1/(α+1) < p < ∞. Thus, in case , the Riesz means converge...
In this paper we introduce atomic Hardy spaces on the product domain and prove that rough singular integral operators with Hardy space function kernels are bounded on . This is an extension of some well known results.
Let be a second order divergence form elliptic operator with complex bounded measurable coefficients. The operators arising in connection with , such as the heat semigroup and Riesz transform, are not, in general, of Calderón-Zygmund type and exhibit behavior different from their counterparts built upon the Laplacian. The current paper aims at a thorough description of the properties of such operators in , Sobolev, and some new Hardy spaces naturally associated to . First, we show that the...
We consider a complete connected noncompact Riemannian manifold M with bounded geometry and spectral gap. We prove that the imaginary powers of the Laplacian and the Riesz transform are bounded from the Hardy space X¹(M), introduced in previous work of the authors, to L¹(M).
We consider an abstract non-negative self-adjoint operator L acting on L²(X) which satisfies Davies-Gaffney estimates. Let (p > 0) be the Hardy spaces associated to the operator L. We assume that the doubling condition holds for the metric measure space X. We show that a sharp Hörmander-type spectral multiplier theorem on follows from restriction-type estimates and Davies-Gaffney estimates. We also establish a sharp result for the boundedness of Bochner-Riesz means on .
We extend a result of Coifman and Dahlberg [Singular integral characterizations of nonisotropic spaces and the F. and M. Riesz theorem, Proc. Sympos. Pure Math., Vol. 35, pp. 231–234; Amer. Math. Soc., Providence, 1979] on the characterization of spaces by singular integrals of with a nonisotropic metric. Then we apply it to produce singular integral versions of generalized BMO spaces. More precisely, if is the family of dilations in induced by a matrix with a nonnegative eigenvalue, then...
Let be a Schrödinger operator and let be a Schrödinger type operator on , where is a nonnegative potential belonging to certain reverse Hölder class...
Four basic results of Marcinkiewicz are presented in summability theory. We show that setting out from these theorems many mathematicians have reached several nice results for trigonometric, Walsh- and Ciesielski-Fourier series.
