Denjoy integral and Henstock-Kurzweil integral in vector lattices. II

Toshiharu Kawasaki (2009)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

In a previous paper we defined a Denjoy integral for mappings from a vector lattice to a complete vector lattice. In this paper we define a Henstock-Kurzweil integral for mappings from a vector lattice to a complete vector lattice and consider the relation between these two integrals.

Denseness of norm attaining mappings.

María D. Acosta (2006)

RACSAM

The Bishop-Phelps Theorem states that the set of (bounded and linear) functionals on a Banach space that attain their norms is dense in the dual. In the complex case, Lomonosov proved that there may be a closed, convex and bounded subset C of a Banach space such that the set of functionals whose maximum modulus is attained on C is not dense in the dual. This paper contains a survey of versions for operators, multilinear forms and polynomials of the Bishop-Phelps Theorem. Lindenstrauss provided examples...

Denting point in the space of operator-valued continuous maps.

Ryszard Grzaslewicz, Samir B. Hadid (1996)

Revista Matemática de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid

In a former paper we describe the geometric properties of the space of continuous functions with values in the space of operators acting on a Hilbert space. In particular we show that dent B(L(H)) = ext B(L(H)) if dim H < 8 and card K < 8 and dent B(L(H)) = 0 if dim H < 8 or card K = 8, and x-ext C(K,L(H)) = ext C(K,L(H)).

Descriptive compact spaces and renorming

L. Oncina, M. Raja (2004)

Studia Mathematica

We study the class of descriptive compact spaces, the Banach spaces generated by descriptive compact subsets and their relation to renorming problems.

Descriptive properties of elements of biduals of Banach spaces

Pavel Ludvík, Jiří Spurný (2012)

Studia Mathematica

If E is a Banach space, any element x** in its bidual E** is an affine function on the dual unit ball B E * that might possess a variety of descriptive properties with respect to the weak* topology. We prove several results showing that descriptive properties of x** are quite often determined by the behaviour of x** on the set of extreme points of B E * , generalizing thus results of J. Saint Raymond and F. Jellett. We also prove a result on the relation between Baire classes and intrinsic Baire classes...

Descriptive Sets and the Topology of Nonseparable Banach Spaces

Hansell, R. (2001)

Serdica Mathematical Journal

This paper was extensively circulated in manuscript form beginning in the Summer of 1989. It is being published here for the first time in its original form except for minor corrections, updated references and some concluding comments.

Determinacy of adversarial Gowers games

Christian Rosendal (2014)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We prove a game-theoretic dichotomy for G δ σ sets of block sequences in vector spaces that extends, on the one hand, the block Ramsey theorem of W. T. Gowers proved for analytic sets of block sequences and, on the other hand, M. Davis’ proof of Σ⁰₃ determinacy.

Determining c₀ in C(𝒦) spaces

S. A. Argyros, V. Kanellopoulos (2005)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

For a countable compact metric space and a seminormalized weakly null sequence (fₙ)ₙ in C() we provide some upper bounds for the norm of the vectors in the linear span of a subsequence of (fₙ)ₙ. These bounds depend on the complexity of and also on the sequence (fₙ)ₙ itself. Moreover, we introduce the class of c₀-hierarchies. We prove that for every α < ω₁, every normalized weakly null sequence (fₙ)ₙ in C ( ω ω α ) and every c₀-hierarchy generated by (fₙ)ₙ, there exists β ≤ α such that a sequence of β-blocks...
