Some linear topological properties of the spaces of operators on Hilbert space
Two kinds of orthogonal decompositions of the Sobolev space W̊₂¹ and hence also of for bounded domains are given. They originate from a decomposition of W̊₂¹ into the orthogonal sum of the subspace of the -solenoidal functions, k ≥ 1, and its explicitly given orthogonal complement. We provide new assertions on factorization of tent spaces.
We discuss the problem of characterizing the possible asymptotic behaviour of the norm of the iterates of a bounded linear operator between two Banach spaces. In particular, given an increasing sequence of positive numbers tending to infinity, we construct Banach spaces such that the norm of the iterates of a suitable multiplication operator between these spaces assumes (or exceeds) the values of this sequence.
We characterize the norm attaining bilinear forms on L1[0,1], and show that the set of norm attaining ones is not dense in the space of continuous bilinear forms on L1[0,1].
We present monotonicity theorems for index functions of N-fuctions, and obtain formulas for exact values of packing constants. In particular, we show that the Orlicz sequence space generated by the N-function N(v) = (1+|v|)ln(1+|v|) - |v| with Luxemburg norm has the Kottman constant , which answers M. M. Rao and Z. D. Ren’s [8] problem.
