Tauberian operators on L 1 ( μ ) spaces

Manuel González, Antonio Martínez-Abejón (1997)

Studia Mathematica

We characterize tauberian operators T : L 1 ( μ ) Y in terms of the images of disjoint sequences and in terms of the image of the dyadic tree in L 1 [ 0 , 1 ] . As applications, we show that the class of tauberian operators is stable under small norm perturbations and that its perturbation class coincides with the class of all weakly precompact operators. Moreover, we prove that the second conjugate of a tauberian operator T : L 1 ( μ ) Y is also tauberian, and the induced operator T ̃ : L 1 ( μ ) * * / L 1 ( μ ) Y * * / Y is an isomorphism into. Also, we show that L 1 ( μ ) embeds...

The Berezin transform and operators on spaces of analytic functions

Karel Stroethoff (1997)

Banach Center Publications

In this article we will illustrate how the Berezin transform (or symbol) can be used to study classes of operators on certain spaces of analytic functions, such as the Hardy space, the Bergman space and the Fock space. The article is organized according to the following outline. 1. Spaces of analytic functions 2. Definition and properties Berezin transform 3. Berezin transform and non-compact operators 4. Commutativity of Toeplitz operators 5. Berezin transform and Hankel or Toeplitz operators 6....

The Bergman projection on weighted spaces: L¹ and Herz spaces

Oscar Blasco, Salvador Pérez-Esteva (2002)

Studia Mathematica

We find necessary and sufficient conditions on radial weights w on the unit disc so that the Bergman type projections of Forelli-Rudin are bounded on L¹(w) and in the Herz spaces K p q ( w ) .

The boundedness of two classes of integral operators

Xin Wang, Ming-Sheng Liu (2021)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

The aim of this paper is to characterize the L p - L q boundedness of two classes of integral operators from L p ( 𝒰 , d V α ) to L q ( 𝒰 , d V β ) in terms of the parameters a , b , c , p , q and α , β , where 𝒰 is the Siegel upper half-space. The results in the presented paper generalize a corresponding result given in C. Liu, Y. Liu, P. Hu, L. Zhou (2019).

The Cesàro and related operators, a survey

V. G. Miller (2007)

Banach Center Publications

We provide a survey of properties of the Cesàro operator on Hardy and weighted Bergman spaces, along with its connections to semigroups of weighted composition operators. We also describe recent developments regarding Cesàro-like operators and indicate some open questions and directions of future research.

The class of convolution operators on the Marcinkiewicz spaces

Ka-Sing Lau (1981)

Annales de l'institut Fourier

Let 𝒯 X denote the operator-norm closure of the class of convolution operators Φ μ : X X where X is a suitable function space on R . Let r p be the closed subspace of regular functions in the Marinkiewicz space p , 1 p < . We show that the space 𝒯 r p is isometrically isomorphic to 𝒯 L p and that strong operator sequential convergence and norm convergence in 𝒯 r p coincide. We also obtain some results concerning convolution operators under the Wiener transformation. These are to improve a Tauberian theorem of Wiener on 2 .

The diagonal mapping in mixed norm spaces

Guangbin Ren, Jihuai Shi (2004)

Studia Mathematica

For any holomorphic function F in the unit polydisc Uⁿ of ℂⁿ, we consider its restriction to the diagonal, i.e., the function in the unit disc U of ℂ defined by F(z) = F(z,...,z), and prove that the diagonal mapping maps the mixed norm space H p , q , α ( U ) of the polydisc onto the mixed norm space H p , q , | α | + ( p / q + 1 ) ( n - 1 ) ( U ) of the unit disc for any 0 < p < ∞ and 0 < q ≤ ∞.

The harmonic Cesáro and Copson operators on the spaces L p ( ) , 1 ≤ p ≤ 2

Ferenc Móricz (2002)

Studia Mathematica

The harmonic Cesàro operator is defined for a function f in L p ( ) for some 1 ≤ p < ∞ by setting ( f ) ( x ) : = x ( f ( u ) / u ) d u for x > 0 and ( f ) ( x ) : = - - x ( f ( u ) / u ) d u for x < 0; the harmonic Copson operator ℂ* is defined for a function f in L ¹ l o c ( ) by setting * ( f ) ( x ) : = ( 1 / x ) x f ( u ) d u for x ≠ 0. The notation indicates that ℂ and ℂ* are adjoint operators in a certain sense. We present rigorous proofs of the following two commuting relations: (i) If f L p ( ) for some 1 ≤ p ≤ 2, then ( ( f ) ) ( t ) = * ( f ̂ ) ( t ) a.e., where f̂ denotes the Fourier transform of f. (ii) If f L p ( ) for some 1 < p ≤ 2, then ( * ( f ) ) ( t ) = ( f ̂ ) ( t ) a.e. As...

The Hausdorff operators on the real Hardy spaces H p ( )

Yuichi Kanjin (2001)

Studia Mathematica

We prove that the Hausdorff operator generated by a function ϕ is bounded on the real Hardy space H p ( ) , 0 < p ≤ 1, if the Fourier transform ϕ̂ of ϕ satisfies certain smoothness conditions. As a special case, we obtain the boundedness of the Cesàro operator of order α on H p ( ) , 2/(2α+1) < p ≤ 1. Our proof is based on the atomic decomposition and molecular characterization of H p ( ) .

The Lax-Phillips infinitesimal generator and the scattering matrix for automorphic functions

Yoichi Uetake (2007)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

We study the infinitesimal generator of the Lax-Phillips semigroup of the automorphic scattering system defined on the Poincaré upper half-plane for SL₂(ℤ). We show that its spectrum consists only of the poles of the resolvent of the generator, and coincides with the poles of the scattering matrix, counted with multiplicities. Using this we construct an operator whose eigenvalues, counted with algebraic multiplicities (i.e. dimensions of generalized eigenspaces), are precisely the non-trivial zeros...

The one-sided ergodic Hilbert transform in Banach spaces

Guy Cohen, Christophe Cuny, Michael Lin (2010)

Studia Mathematica

Let T be a power-bounded operator on a (real or complex) Banach space. We study the convergence of the one-sided ergodic Hilbert transform l i m n k = 1 n ( T k x ) / k . We prove that weak and strong convergence are equivalent, and in a reflexive space also s u p n | | k = 1 n ( T k x ) / k | | < is equivalent to the convergence. We also show that - k = 1 ( T k ) / k (which converges on (I-T)X) is precisely the infinitesimal generator of the semigroup ( I - T ) | ( I - T ) X ¯ r .
