On a Szegö type limit theorem, the Hölder-Young-Brascamp-Lieb inequality, and the asymptotic theory of integrals and quadratic forms of stationary fields *

Florin Avram, Nikolai Leonenko, Ludmila Sakhno (2010)

ESAIM: Probability and Statistics

Many statistical applications require establishing central limit theorems for sums/integrals S T ( h ) = t I T h ( X t ) d t or for quadratic forms Q T ( h ) = t , s I T b ^ ( t - s ) h ( X t , X s ) d s d t , where Xt is a stationary process. A particularly important case is that of Appell polynomials h(Xt) = Pm(Xt), h(Xt,Xs) = Pm,n (Xt,Xs), since the “Appell expansion rank" determines typically the type of central limit theorem satisfied by the functionals ST(h), QT(h). We review and extend here to multidimensional indices, along lines conjectured in [F. Avram and M.S. Taqqu,...

On an Invariant Borel Measure in Hilbert Space

G. Pantsulaia (2004)

Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Mathematics

An example of a nonzero σ-finite Borel measure μ with everywhere dense linear manifold μ of admissible (in the sense of invariance) translation vectors is constructed in the Hilbert space ℓ₂ such that μ and any shift μ ( a ) of μ by a vector a μ are neither equivalent nor orthogonal. This extends a result established in [7].

On ℝd-valued peacocks

Francis Hirsch, Bernard Roynette (2013)

ESAIM: Probability and Statistics

In this paper, we consider ℝd-valued integrable processes which are increasing in the convex order, i.e. ℝd-valued peacocks in our terminology. After the presentation of some examples, we show that an ℝd-valued process is a peacock if and only if it has the same one-dimensional marginals as an ℝd-valued martingale. This extends former results, obtained notably by Strassen [Ann. Math. Stat. 36 (1965) 423–439], Doob [J. Funct. Anal. 2 (1968) 207–225] and Kellerer [Math. Ann. 198 (1972) 99–122].

On Gaussian Brunn-Minkowski inequalities

Franck Barthe, Nolwen Huet (2009)

Studia Mathematica

We are interested in Gaussian versions of the classical Brunn-Minkowski inequality. We prove in a streamlined way a semigroup version of the Ehrhard inequality for m Borel or convex sets based on a previous work by Borell. Our method also yields semigroup proofs of the geometric Brascamp-Lieb inequality and of its reverse form, which follow exactly the same lines.

On some conjecture concerning Gaussian measures of dilatations of convex symmetric sets

Stanisław Kwapień, Jerzy Sawa (1993)

Studia Mathematica

The paper deals with the following conjecture: if μ is a centered Gaussian measure on a Banach space F,λ > 1, K ⊂ F is a convex, symmetric, closed set, P ⊂ F is a symmetric strip, i.e. P = {x ∈ F : |x'(x)| ≤ 1} for some x' ∈ F', such that μ(K) = μ(P) then μ(λK) ≥ μ(λP). We prove that the conjecture is true under the additional assumption that K is "sufficiently symmetric" with respect to μ, in particular it is true when K is a ball in Hilbert space. As an application we give estimates of Gaussian...

On the infinite time horizon linear-quadratic regulator problem under a fractional brownian perturbation

Marina L. Kleptsyna, Alain Le Breton, Michel Viot (2005)

ESAIM: Probability and Statistics

In this paper we solve the basic fractional analogue of the classical infinite time horizon linear-quadratic gaussian regulator problem. For a completely observable controlled linear system driven by a fractional brownian motion, we describe explicitely the optimal control policy which minimizes an asymptotic quadratic performance criterion.

On the Karhunen-Loeve expansion for transformed processes.

Ramón Gutiérrez Jáimez, Mariano J. Valderrama Bonnet (1987)

Trabajos de Estadística

We discuss the influence of the transformation {X(t)} → {f(t) X(τ(t))} on the Karhunen-Loève expansion of {X(t)}. Our main result is that, in general, the Karhunen-Loève expansion of {X(t)} with respect to Lebesgue's measure is transformed in the Karhunen-Loève expansion of {f(t) X(τ(t))} with respect to the measure f-2(t)dτ(t). Applications of this result are given in the case of Wiener process, Brownian bridge, and Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process.

On the local time of sub-fractional Brownian motion

Ibrahima Mendy (2010)

Annales mathématiques Blaise Pascal

S H = { S t H , t 0 } be a sub-fractional Brownian motion with H ( 0 , 1 ) . We establish the existence, the joint continuity and the Hölder regularity of the local time L H of S H . We will also give Chung’s form of the law of iterated logarithm for S H . This results are obtained with the decomposition of the sub-fractional Brownian motion into the sum of fractional Brownian motion plus a stochastic process with absolutely continuous trajectories. This decomposition is given by Ruiz de Chavez and Tudor [10].
