Design of an adaptive controller of LQG type: spline-based approach

Tatiana V. Guy, Miroslav Kárný (2000)

Kybernetika

The paper presents an alternative approach to the design of a hybrid adaptive controller of Linear Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) type for linear stochastic controlled system. The approach is based on the combination standard building blocks of discrete LQG adaptive controller with the non-standard technique of modelling of a controlled system and spline approximation of involved signals. The method could be of interest for control of systems with complex models, in particular distributed parameter systems....

Designing a ship course controller by applying the adaptive backstepping method

Anna Witkowska, Roman Śmierzchalski (2012)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

The article discusses the problem of designing a proper and efficient adaptive course-keeping control system for a seagoing ship based on the adaptive backstepping method. The proposed controller in the design stage takes into account the dynamic properties of the steering gear and the full nonlinear static maneuvering characteristic. The adjustable parameters of the achieved nonlinear control structure were tuned up by using the genetic algorithm in order to optimize the system performance. A realistic...

Detection and accommodation of second order distributed parameter systems with abrupt changes in input term: stability and adaptation

Michael A. Demetriou, Marios M. Polycarpou (1998)

Kybernetika

In this note, we employ nonlinear on-line parameter estimation methods based on adaptive neural network approximators for detecting changes due to actuator faults in a class of second order distributed parameter systems. The motivating example is a cantilevered beam actuated via a pair of piezoceramic patches. We examine changes in the control input term, which provide a simple and practical model of actuator failures. Using Lyapunov redesign methods, a stable learning scheme for fault diagnosis...

Direct adaptive control of unknown nonlinear systems using a new neuro-fuzzy method together with a novel approach of parameter hopping

Dimitris Theodoridis, Yiannis Boutalis, Manolis Christodoulou (2009)

Kybernetika

The direct adaptive regulation for affine in the control nonlinear dynamical systems possessing unknown nonlinearities, is considered in this paper. The method is based on a new Neuro-Fuzzy Dynamical System definition, which uses the concept of Fuzzy Dynamical Systems (FDS) operating in conjunction with High Order Neural Network Functions (F-HONNFs). Since the plant is considered unknown, we first propose its approximation by a special form of a fuzzy dynamical system (FDS) and in the sequel the...

Double-stepped adaptive control for hybrid systems with unknown Markov jumps and stochastic noises

Shuping Tan, Ji-Feng Zhang (2009)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

This paper is concerned with the sampled-data based adaptive linear quadratic (LQ) control of hybrid systems with both unmeasurable Markov jump processes and stochastic noises. By the least matching error estimation algorithm, parameter estimates are presented. By a double-step (DS) sampling approach and the certainty equivalence principle, a sampled-data based adaptive LQ control is designed. The DS-approach is characterized by a comparatively large estimation step for parameter estimation and...

Dynamics for a discrete competition and cooperation model of two enterprises with multiple delays and feedback controls

Lin Lu, Yi Lian, Chaoling Li (2017)

Open Mathematics

This paper is concerned with a competition and cooperation model of two enterprises with multiple delays and feedback controls. With the aid of the difference inequality theory, we have obtained some sufficient conditions which guarantee the permanence of the model. Under a suitable condition, we prove that the system has global stable periodic solution. The paper ends with brief conclusions.
