A dispersion inequality in the Hankel setting

Saifallah Ghobber (2018)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

The aim of this paper is to prove a quantitative version of Shapiro's uncertainty principle for orthonormal sequences in the setting of Gabor-Hankel theory.

A modified convolution and product theorem for the linear canonical transform derived by representation transformation in quantum mechanics

Navdeep Goel, Kulbir Singh (2013)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

The Linear Canonical Transform (LCT) is a four parameter class of integral transform which plays an important role in many fields of signal processing. Well-known transforms such as the Fourier Transform (FT), the FRactional Fourier Transform (FRFT), and the FreSnel Transform (FST) can be seen as special cases of the linear canonical transform. Many properties of the LCT are currently known but the extension of FRFTs and FTs still needs more attention. This paper presents a modified convolution...

A novel generalized oppositional biogeography-based optimization algorithm: application to peak to average power ratio reduction in OFDM systems

Sotirios K. Goudos (2016)

Open Mathematics

A major drawback of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals is the high value of peak to average power ratio (PAPR). Partial transmit sequences (PTS) is a popular PAPR reduction method with good PAPR reduction performance, but its search complexity is high. In this paper, in order to reduce PTS search complexity we propose a new technique based on biogeography-based optimization (BBO). More specifically, we present a new Generalized Oppositional Biogeography Based Optimization...

A numerical procedure for filtering and efficient high-order signal differentiation

Salim Ibrir, Sette Diop (2004)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

In this paper, we propose a numerical algorithm for filtering and robust signal differentiation. The numerical procedure is based on the solution of a simplified linear optimization problem. A compromise between smoothing and fidelity with respect to the measurable data is achieved by the computation of an optimal regularization parameter that minimizes the Generalized Cross Validation criterion (GCV). Simulation results are given to highlight the effectiveness of the proposed procedure.

Active fault diagnosis based on stochastic tests

Niels K. Poulsen, Henrik Niemann (2008)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

The focus of this paper is on stochastic change detection applied in connection with active fault diagnosis (AFD). An auxiliary input signal is applied in AFD. This signal injection in the system will in general allow us to obtain a fast change detection/isolation by considering the output or an error output from the system. The classical cumulative sum (CUSUM) test will be modified with respect to the AFD approach applied. The CUSUM method will be altered such that it will be able to detect a change...

An application of the expectation-maximization algorithm to interference rejection for direct-sequence spread-spectrum signals

Quan G. Zhang, Costas N. Georghiades (1999)

Kybernetika

For a direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) system we pose and solve the problem of maximum-likelihood (ML) sequence estimation in the presence of narrowband interference, using the expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm. It is seen that the iterative EM algorithm obtains at each iteration an estimate of the interference which is then subtracted from the data before a new sequence estimate is produced. Both uncoded and trellis coded systems are studied, and the EM-based algorithm is seen to perform...
