Transformation of nonlinear state equations into the observer form: Necessary and sufficient conditions in terms of one-forms

Vadim Kaparin, Ülle Kotta (2015)

Kybernetika

Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the existence of state and output transformations, that bring single-input single-output nonlinear state equations into the observer form. The conditions are formulated in terms of differential one-forms, associated with an input-output equation of the system. An algorithm for transformation of the state equations into the observer form is presented and illustrated by an example.

Tube-MPC for a class of uncertain continuous nonlinear systems with application to surge problem

Masoud Taleb Ziabari, Mohammad Reza Jahed-Motlagh, Karim Salahshoor, Amin Ramezani, Ali Moarefianpour (2017)

Kybernetika

This paper presents a new robust adaptive model predictive control for a special class of continuous-time non-linear systems with uncertainty. These systems have bounded disturbances with unknown upper bound, as well as constraints on input states. An adaptive control is used in the new controller to estimate the system uncertainty. Also, to avoid the system disturbances, a H method is employed to find the appropriate gain in Tube-MPC. Finally, a surge avoidance problem in centrifugal compressors...

Two-mode bifurcation in solution of a perturbed nonlinear fourth order differential equation

Ahmed Abbas Mizeal, Mudhir A. Abdul Hussain (2012)

Archivum Mathematicum

In this paper, we are interested in the study of bifurcation solutions of nonlinear wave equation of elastic beams located on elastic foundations with small perturbation by using local method of Lyapunov-Schmidt.We showed that the bifurcation equation corresponding to the elastic beams equation is given by the nonlinear system of two equations. Also, we found the parameters equation of the Discriminant set of the specified problem as well as the bifurcation diagram.

Unbounded viscosity solutions of hybrid control systems

Guy Barles, Sheetal Dharmatti, Mythily Ramaswamy (2010)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

We study a hybrid control system in which both discrete and continuous controls are involved. The discrete controls act on the system at a given set interface. The state of the system is changed discontinuously when the trajectory hits predefined sets, namely, an autonomous jump set A or a controlled jump set C where controller can choose to jump or not. At each jump, trajectory can move to a different Euclidean space. We allow the cost functionals to be unbounded with certain growth and hence...

Unifying approach to observer-filter design

Václav Černý (2009)

Kybernetika

The paper examines similarities between observer design as introduced in Automatic Control Theory and filter design as established in Signal Processing. It is shown in the paper that there are obvious connections between them in spite of different aims for their design. Therefore, it is prospective to make them be compatible from the structural point of view. Introduced error invariance and error convergence properties of both of them are unifying tools for their design. Lyapunov's stability theory,...

Variable measurement step in 2-sliding control

Arie Levant (2000)

Kybernetika

Sliding mode is used in order to retain a dynamic system accurately at a given constraint and features theoretically-infinite-frequency switching. Standard sliding modes are known to feature finite time convergence, precise keeping of the constraint and robustness with respect to internal and external disturbances. Having generalized the notion of sliding mode, higher order sliding modes preserve or generalize its main properties, improve its precision with discrete measurements and remove the chattering...

Variance-Constrained H finite-horizon filtering for multi-rate time-varying networked systems based on stochastic protocols

Ming Lyu, Jie Zhang, YuMing Bo (2020)

Kybernetika

In this paper, the variance-constrained H finite-horizon filtering problem is investigated for a class of time-varying nonlinear system under muti-rate communication network and stochastic protocol (SP). The stochastic protocol is employed to determine which sensor obtains access to the muti-rate communication network in order to relieve communication burden. A novel mapping technology is applied to characterize the randomly switching behavior of the data transmission resulting from the utilization...

Verified solution method for population epidemiology models with uncertainty

Joshua A. Enszer, Mark A. Stadtherr (2009)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Epidemiological models can be used to study the impact of an infection within a population. These models often involve parameters that are not known with certainty. Using a method for verified solution of nonlinear dynamic models, we can bound the disease trajectories that are possible for given bounds on the uncertain parameters. The method is based on the use of an interval Taylor series to represent dependence on time and the use of Taylor models to represent dependence on uncertain parameters...

Well-formed dynamics under quasi-static state feedback

J. Rudolph (1995)

Banach Center Publications

Well-formed dynamics are a generalization of classical dynamics, to which they are equivalent by a quasi-static state feedback. In case such a dynamics is flat, i.e., equivalent by an endogenous feedback to a linear controllable dynamics, there exists a Brunovský type canonical form with respect to a quasi-static state feedback.
