We show that every operator from ${\ell }_s$ to ${\ell }_p\otimes ̂{\ell }_q$ is compact when 1 ≤ p,q < s and that every operator from ${\ell }_s$ to ${\ell }_p\widehat{\otimes ̂}{\ell }_q$ is compact when 1/p + 1/q > 1 + 1/s.

We prove that for a normed linear space $X$, if $f_1:X\to ℝ$ is continuous and semiconvex with modulus $\omega$, $f_2:X\to ℝ$ is continuous and semiconcave with modulus $\omega$ and $f_1\le f_2$, then there exists $f\in C^{1,\omega }\left(X\right)$ such that $f_1\le f\le f_2$. Using this result we prove a generalization of Ilmanen lemma (which deals with the case $\omega \left(t\right)=t$) to the case of an arbitrary nontrivial modulus $\omega$. This generalization (where a $C_{loc}^{1,\omega }$ function is inserted) gives a positive answer to a problem formulated by A. Fathi and M. Zavidovique in 2010.

In a Tychonoff space $X$, the point $p\in X$ is called a $C^{*}$-point if every real-valued continuous function on $C\setminus \left\{p\right\}$ can be extended continuously to $p$. Every point in an extremally disconnected space is a $C^{*}$-point. A classic example is the space ${𝐖}^{*}={\omega }_1+1$ consisting of the countable ordinals together with ${\omega }_1$. Let $f^j={\sum }_k{a}_{k}f(2^{j+1}x-2k)$, where the sum is taken over the lattice of all points k in ${ℝ}^n$ having integer-valued components, j∈ℕ and $a_k\in ℂ$. Let $A_{pq}^s$ be either $B_{pq}^s$ or $F_{pq}^s$ (s ∈ ℝ, 0 < p < ∞, 0 < q ≤ ∞) on ${ℝ}^n.$ The aim of the paper is to clarify under what conditions $\parallel f^j|A_{pq}^s\parallel$ is equivalent to $2^{j(s-n/p)}({\sum }_k|a_k{|}^p{)}^{1/p}\parallel f|A_{pq}^s\parallel$.

In this note we shall prove that for a continuous function $\varphi :\Delta \to {ℝ}^n$, where $\Delta \subset ℝ$,  the paratingent of $\varphi$ at $a\in \Delta$ is a non-empty and compact set in ${ℝ}^n$ if and only if $\varphi$ satisfies Lipschitz condition in a neighbourhood of $a$. Let $F$ be a closed subset of ${ℝ}^n$ and let $P\left(x\right)$ denote the metric projection (closest point mapping) of $x\in {ℝ}^n$ onto $F$ in $l^p$-norm. A classical result of Asplund states that $P$ is (Fréchet) differentiable almost everywhere (a.e.) in ${ℝ}^n$ in the Euclidean case $p=2$. We consider the case $2<p<\infty$ and prove that the $i$th component $P_i\left(x\right)$ of $P\left(x\right)$ is differentiable a.e. if $P_i\left(x\right)\ne x_i$ and satisfies Hölder condition of order $1/(p-1)$ if $P_i\left(x\right)=x_i$.

We investigate the recovery of $k$-sparse signals using the ${\ell }_1$-${\ell }_2$ minimization model with prior support set information. The prior support set information, which is believed to contain the indices of nonzero signal elements, significantly enhances the performance of compressive recovery by improving accuracy, efficiency, reducing complexity, expanding applicability, and enhancing robustness. We show that any ${\Sigma }_s$-product of at most $𝔠$-many $L\Sigma (\le \omega )$-spaces has the $L\Sigma (\le \omega )$-property. This result generalizes some known results about $L\Sigma (\le \omega )$-spaces. For $X,Y\in {𝐌}_{n,m}$ it is said that $X$ is gut-majorized by $Y$, and we write $X{\prec }_{\mathrm{gut}}Y$, if there exists an $n$-by-$n$ upper triangular g-row stochastic matrix $R$ such that $X=RY$. Define the relation ${\sim }_{\mathrm{gut}}$ as follows. $X{\sim }_{\mathrm{gut}}Y$ if $X$ is gut-majorized by $Y$ and $Y$ is gut-majorized by $X$. The (strong) linear preservers of ${\prec }_{\mathrm{gut}}$ on ${ℝ}^n$ and strong linear preservers of this relation on ${𝐌}_{n,m}$ have been characterized before. This paper characterizes all (strong) linear preservers and strong linear preservers of ${\sim }_{\mathrm{gut}}$ on ${ℝ}^n$ and ${𝐌}_{n,m}$.

The aim of this paper is to show that for every Banach space $(X,\parallel ·\parallel )$ containing asymptotically isometric copy of the space $c_0$ there is a bounded, closed and convex set $C\subset X$ with the Chebyshev radius $r\left(C\right)=1$ such that for every $k\ge 1$ there exists a $k$-contractive mapping $T:C\to C$ with $\parallel x-Tx\parallel >1-1/k$ for any $x\in C$.

Let $𝕍$ be a separable real Hilbert space, $k\in \mathbb{N}$ with $k<dim𝕍$, and let $B$ be convex and closed in $𝕍$. Let $𝒫$ be a collection of linear $k$-subspaces of $𝕍$. A point $w\in B$ is called exposed by $𝒫$ if there is a $P\in 𝒫$ so that $(w+P)\cap B=\left\{w\right\}$. We show that, under some natural conditions, $B$ can be reconstituted as the convex hull of the closure of all its exposed by $𝒫$ points whenever $𝒫$ is dense and $G_{\delta }$. Following a suggestion of W.M. Schmidt and L. Summerer, we construct a proper $3$-system $(P_1,P_2,P_3)$ with the property ${\overline{\varphi }}_3=1$. In fact, our method generalizes to provide $n$-systems with ${\overline{\varphi }}_n=1$, for arbitrary $n\ge 3$. We visualize our constructions with graphics. We further present explicit examples of numbers ${\xi }_1,...,{\xi }_{n-1}$ that induce the $n$-systems in question.

We study the relation between a space $X$ satisfying certain generalized metric properties and its $n$-fold symmetric product ${ℱ}_n\left(X\right)$ satisfying the same properties. We prove that $X$ has a $\sigma$-$\left(P\right)$-property $cn$-network if and only if so does ${ℱ}_n\left(X\right)$. Moreover, if $X$ is regular then $X$ has a $\sigma$-$\left(P\right)$-property $ck$-network if and only if so does ${ℱ}_n\left(X\right)$. By these results, we obtain that $X$ is strict $\sigma$-space (strict $\aleph$-space) if and only if so is ${ℱ}_n\left(X\right)$.
