Boundary integral representations of second derivatives in shape optimization

Karsten Eppler (2000)

Discussiones Mathematicae, Differential Inclusions, Control and Optimization

For a shape optimization problem second derivatives are investigated, obtained by a special approach for the description of the boundary variation and the use of a potential ansatz for the state. The natural embedding of the problem in a Banach space allows the application of a standard differential calculus in order to get second derivatives by a straight forward "repetition of differentiation". Moreover, by using boundary value characerizations for more regular data, a complete boundary integral...

Boundary potential theory for stable Lévy processes

Paweł Sztonyk (2003)

Colloquium Mathematicae

We investigate properties of harmonic functions of the symmetric stable Lévy process on d without the assumption that the process is rotation invariant. Our main goal is to prove the boundary Harnack principle for Lipschitz domains. To this end we improve the estimates for the Poisson kernel obtained in a previous work. We also investigate properties of harmonic functions of Feynman-Kac semigroups based on the stable process. In particular, we prove the continuity and the Harnack inequality for...

Boundary value problems and layer potentials on manifolds with cylindrical ends

Marius Mitrea, Victor Nistor (2007)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

We study the method of layer potentials for manifolds with boundary and cylindrical ends. The fact that the boundary is non-compact prevents us from using the standard characterization of Fredholm or compact pseudo-differential operators between Sobolev spaces, as, for example, in the works of Fabes-Jodeit-Lewis and Kral-Wedland . We first study the layer potentials depending on a parameter on compact manifolds. This then yields the invertibility of the relevant boundary integral operators in the...

Bounded holomorphic functions with multiple sheeted pluripolar hulls

Armen Edigarian, Józef Siciak, Włodzimierz Zwonek (2006)

Studia Mathematica

We describe compact subsets K of ∂𝔻 and ℝ admitting holomorphic functions f with the domains of existence equal to ℂ∖K and such that the pluripolar hulls of their graphs are infinitely sheeted. The paper is motivated by a recent paper of Poletsky and Wiegerinck.

Boundedness of generalized fractional integral operators on Orlicz spaces near L 1 over metric measure spaces

Daiki Hashimoto, Takao Ohno, Tetsu Shimomura (2019)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

We are concerned with the boundedness of generalized fractional integral operators I ρ , τ from Orlicz spaces L Φ ( X ) near L 1 ( X ) to Orlicz spaces L Ψ ( X ) over metric measure spaces equipped with lower Ahlfors Q -regular measures, where Φ is a function of the form Φ ( r ) = r ( r ) and is of log-type. We give a generalization of paper by Mizuta et al. (2010), in the Euclidean setting. We deal with both generalized Riesz potentials and generalized logarithmic potentials.

Boundedness of the solution of the third problem for the Laplace equation

Dagmar Medková (2005)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

A necessary and sufficient condition for the boundedness of a solution of the third problem for the Laplace equation is given. As an application a similar result is given for the third problem for the Poisson equation on domains with Lipschitz boundary.
