C¹-maps having hyperbolic periodic points

N. Aoki, Kazumine Moriyasu, N. Sumi (2001)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We show that the C¹-interior of the set of maps satisfying the following conditions: (i) periodic points are hyperbolic, (ii) singular points belonging to the nonwandering set are sinks, coincides with the set of Axiom A maps having the no cycle property.

Chaos synchronization of a fractional nonautonomous system

Zakia Hammouch, Toufik Mekkaoui (2014)

Nonautonomous Dynamical Systems

In this paper we investigate the dynamic behavior of a nonautonomous fractional-order biological system. With the stability criterion of active nonlinear fractional systems, the synchronization of the studied chaotic system is obtained. On the other hand, using a Phase-Locked-Loop (PLL) analogy we synchronize the same system. The numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Chaotic behavior and modified function projective synchronization of a simple system with one stable equilibrium

Zhouchao Wei, Zhen Wang (2013)

Kybernetika

By introducing a feedback control to a proposed Sprott E system, an extremely complex chaotic attractor with only one stable equilibrium is derived. The system evolves into periodic and chaotic behaviors by detailed numerical as well as theoretical analysis. Analysis results show that chaos also can be generated via a period-doubling bifurcation when the system has one and only one stable equilibrium. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, the adaptive control law and the parameter update law are derived...

Comparison theorems for noncanonical third order nonlinear differential equations

Ivan Mojsej, Ján Ohriska (2007)

Open Mathematics

The aim of our paper is to study oscillatory and asymptotic properties of solutions of nonlinear differential equations of the third order with quasiderivatives. We prove comparison theorems on property A between linear and nonlinear equations. Some integral criteria ensuring property A for nonlinear equations are also given. Our assumptions on the nonlinearity of f are restricted to its behavior only in a neighborhood of zero and a neighborhood of infinity.

Complex one-frequency cocycles

Artur Avila, Svetlana Jitomirskaya, Christian Sadel (2014)

Journal of the European Mathematical Society

We show that on a dense open set of analytic one-frequency complex valued cocycles in arbitrary dimension Oseledets filtration is either dominated or trivial. The underlying mechanism is different from that of the Bochi-Viana Theorem for continuous cocycles, which links non-domination with discontinuity of the Lyapunov exponent. Indeed, in our setting the Lyapunov exponents are shown to depend continuously on the cocycle, even if the initial irrational frequency is allowed to vary. On the other...

Complex Oscillations and Limit Cycles in Autonomous Two-Component Incommensurate Fractional Dynamical Systems

Datsko, Bohdan, Luchko, Yuri (2012)

Mathematica Balkanica New Series

MSC 2010: 26A33, 34D05, 37C25In the paper, long-time behavior of solutions of autonomous two-component incommensurate fractional dynamical systems with derivatives in the Caputo sense is investigated. It is shown that both the characteristic times of the systems and the orders of fractional derivatives play an important role for the instability conditions and system dynamics. For these systems, stationary solutions can be unstable for wider range of parameters compared to ones in the systems with...

Cone invariance and squeezing properties for inertial manifolds for nonautonomous evolution equations

Norbert Koksch, Stefan Siegmund (2003)

Banach Center Publications

In this paper we summarize an abstract approach to inertial manifolds for nonautonomous dynamical systems. Our result on the existence of inertial manifolds requires only two geometrical assumptions, called cone invariance and squeezing property, and some additional technical assumptions like boundedness or smoothing properties. We apply this result to processes (two-parameter semiflows) generated by nonautonomous semilinear parabolic evolution equations.

Consensus of a two-agent system with nonlinear dynamics and time-varying delay

Ye Cheng, Bao Shi, Liangliang Ding (2021)

Applications of Mathematics

To explore the impacts of time delay on nonlinear dynamics of consensus models, we incorporate time-varying delay into a two-agent system to study its long-time behaviors. By the classical 3/2 stability theory, we establish a sufficient condition for the system to experience unconditional consensus. Numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed protocols and present possible Hopf bifurcations when the time delay changes.

Continuous subadditive processes and formulae for Lyapunov characteristic exponents

Wojciech Słomczyński (1995)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

Asymptotic properties of various semidynamical systems can be examined by means of continuous subadditive processes. To investigate such processes we consider different types of exponents: characteristic, central, singular and global exponents and we study their properties. We derive formulae for central and singular exponents and show that they provide upper bounds for characteristic exponents. The concept of conjugate processes introduced in this paper allows us to find lower bounds for characteristic...
