We discuss the solvability of a nonhomogeneous boundary value problem for the semilinear equation of the vibrating string x t t ( t , y ) - Δ x ( t , y ) + f ( t , y , x ( t , y ) ) = 0 in a bounded domain and with a certain type of superlinear nonlinearity. To this end we derive a new dual variational method.

Nonlinear vibrations of completely resonant wave equations

We present recent existence results of small amplitude periodic and quasi-periodic solutions of completely resonant nonlinear wave equations. Both infinite-dimensional bifurcation phenomena and small divisors difficulties occur. The proofs rely on bifurcation theory, Nash-Moser implicit function theorems, dynamical systems techniques and variational methods.

Null structure and almost optimal local regularity for the Dirac-Klein-Gordon system

We prove almost optimal local well-posedness for the coupled Dirac–Klein–Gordon (DKG) system of equations in 1 + 3 dimensions. The proof relies on the null structure of the system, combined with bilinear spacetime estimates of Klainerman–Machedon type. It has been known for some time that the Klein–Gordon part of the system has a null structure; here we uncover an additional null structure in the Dirac equation, which cannot be seen directly, but appears after a duality argument.
