Let B(H) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space H. Automorphisms and antiautomorphisms are the only bijective linear mappings θ of B(H) with the property that θ(P) is an idempotent whenever P ∈ B(H) is. In case H is separable and infinite-dimensional, every local automorphism of B(H) is an automorphism.
This paper introduces the class of Cohen p-nuclear m-linear operators between Banach spaces. A characterization in terms of Pietsch's domination theorem is proved. The interpretation in terms of factorization gives a factorization theorem similar to Kwapień's factorization theorem for dominated linear operators. Connections with the theory of absolutely summing m-linear operators are established. As a consequence of our results, we show that every Cohen p-nuclear (1 < p ≤ ∞ ) m-linear mapping...
It is well known that the only proper non-trivial norm closed ideal in the algebra L(X) for (1 ≤ p < ∞) or X = c₀ is the ideal of compact operators. The next natural question is to describe all closed ideals of for 1 ≤ p,q < ∞, p ≠ q, or equivalently, the closed ideals in for p < q. This paper shows that for 1 < p < 2 < q < ∞ there are at least four distinct proper closed ideals in , including one that has not been studied before. The proofs use various methods from Banach...
In the paper the geometric properties of the positive cone and positive part of the unit ball of the space of operator-valued continuous space are discussed. In particular we show that
