On a certain lubrication slip model.
The paper examines the steady Navier-Stokes equations in a three-dimensional infinite pipe with mixed boundary conditions (Dirichlet and slip boundary conditions). The velocity of the fluid is assumed to be constant at infinity. The main results show the existence of weak solutions with no restriction on smallness of the flux vector and boundary conditions.
We consider the two-dimesional spatially periodic problem for an evolutionary system describing unsteady motions of the fluid with shear-dependent viscosity under general assumptions on the form of nonlinear stress tensors that includes those with -structure. The global-in-time existence of a weak solution is established. Some models where the nonlinear operator corresponds to the case are covered by this analysis.
This paper deals with a nonstationary problem for the Navier-Stokes equations with a free slip boundary condition in an exterior domain. We obtain a global in time unique solvability theorem and temporal asymptotic behavior of the global strong solution when the initial velocity is sufficiently small in the sense of Lⁿ (n is dimension). The proof is based on the contraction mapping principle with the aid of estimates for the Stokes semigroup associated with a linearized problem, which is also...
We investigate the existence of weak solutions and their smoothness properties for a generalized Stokes problem. The generalization is twofold: the Laplace operator is replaced by a general second order linear elliptic operator in divergence form and the “pressure” gradient is replaced by a linear operator of first order.
Existence of solutions for equations of the nonstationary Stokes system in a bounded domain Ω ⊂ ℝ³ is proved in a class such that velocity belongs to , and pressure belongs to for p > 3. The proof is divided into three steps. First, the existence of solutions with vanishing initial data is proved in a half-space by applying the Marcinkiewicz multiplier theorem. Next, we prove the existence of weak solutions in a bounded domain and then we regularize them. Finally, the problem with nonvanishing...
Global existence of regular solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations for velocity and pressure coupled with the heat convection equation for temperature in a cylindrical pipe is shown. We assume the slip boundary conditions for velocity and the Neumann condition for temperature. First we prove long time existence of regular solutions in [kT,(k+1)T]. Having T sufficiently large and imposing some decay estimates on , we continue the local solutions step by step up to a global one.
We study properties of Lipschitz truncations of Sobolev functions with constant and variable exponent. As non-trivial applications we use the Lipschitz truncations to provide a simplified proof of an existence result for incompressible power-law like fluids presented in [Frehse et al., SIAM J. Math. Anal34 (2003) 1064–1083]. We also establish new existence results to a class of incompressible electro-rheological fluids.
We consider a class of incompressible fluids whose viscosities depend on the pressure and the shear rate. Suitable boundary conditions on the traction at the inflow/outflow part of boundary are given. As an advantage of this, the mean value of the pressure over the domain is no more a free parameter which would have to be prescribed otherwise. We prove the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions (the latter for small data) and discuss particular applications of the results.
We consider mixtures of compressible viscous fluids consisting of two miscible species. In contrast to the theory of non-homogeneous incompressible fluids where one has only one velocity field, here we have two densities and two velocity fields assigned to each species of the fluid. We obtain global classical solutions for quasi-stationary Stokes-like system with interaction term.
This paper concerns improving Prodi-Serrin-Ladyzhenskaya type regularity criteria for the Navier-Stokes system, in the sense of multiplying certain negative powers of scaling invariant norms.
In this survey we report on existence results for some free boundary problems for equations describing motions of both incompressible and compressible viscous fluids. We also present ways of controlling free boundaries in two cases: a) when the free boundary is governed by surface tension, b) when surface tension does not occur.
