Nouvelles formulations intégrales pour les problèmes de diffraction d’ondes

David P. Levadoux, Bastiaan L. Michielsen (2004)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis - Modélisation Mathématique et Analyse Numérique

We present an integral equation method for solving boundary value problems of the Helmholtz equation in unbounded domains. The method relies on the factorisation of one of the Calderón projectors by an operator approximating the exterior admittance (Dirichlet to Neumann) operator of the scattering obstacle. We show how the pseudo-differential calculus allows us to construct such approximations and that this yields integral equations without internal resonances and being well-conditioned at all frequencies....

Numerical analysis of a Stokes interface problem based on formulation using the characteristic function

Yoshiki Sugitani (2017)

Applications of Mathematics

Numerical analysis of a model Stokes interface problem with the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition is considered. The interface condition is interpreted as an additional singular force field to the Stokes equations using the characteristic function. The finite element method is applied after introducing a regularization of the singular source term. Consequently, the error is divided into the regularization and discretization parts which are studied separately. As a result, error estimates...

Numerical analysis of coupling for a kinetic equation

Moulay Tidriri (2010)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis

In this paper we introduce a coupled systems of kinetic equations for the linearized Carleman model. We then study the existence theory and the asymptotic behaviour of the resulting coupled problem. In order to solve the coupled problem we propose to use the time marching algorithm. We then develop a convergence theory for the resulting algorithm. Numerical results confirming the theory are then presented.

Numerical analysis of Eulerian multi-fluid models in the context of kinetic formulations for dilute evaporating sprays

Frédérique Laurent (2006)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis

The purpose of this article is the analysis and the development of Eulerian multi-fluid models to describe the evolution of the mass density of evaporating liquid sprays. First, the classical multi-fluid model developed in [Laurent and Massot, Combust. Theor. Model.5 (2001) 537–572] is analyzed in the framework of an unsteady configuration without dynamical nor heating effects, where the evaporation process is isolated, since it is a key issue. The classical multi-fluid method consists then in...

Numerical analysis of modular regularization methods for the BDF2 time discretization of the Navier-Stokes equations

William Layton, Nathaniel Mays, Monika Neda, Catalin Trenchea (2014)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis - Modélisation Mathématique et Analyse Numérique

We consider an uncoupled, modular regularization algorithm for approximation of the Navier-Stokes equations. The method is: Step 1.1: Advance the NSE one time step, Step 1.1: Regularize to obtain the approximation at the new time level. Previous analysis of this approach has been for specific time stepping methods in Step 1.1 and simple stabilizations in Step 1.1. In this report we extend the mathematical support for uncoupled, modular stabilization to (i) the more complex and better performing...

Numerical analysis of the Navier-Stokes equations

Rolf Rannacher (1993)

Applications of Mathematics

This paper discusses some conceptional questions of the numerical simulation of viscous incompressible flow which are related to the presence of boundaries.

Numerical approximation of flow in a symmetric channel with vibrating walls

Sváček, Petr, Horáček, Jaromír (2010)

Programs and Algorithms of Numerical Mathematics

In this paper the numerical solution of two dimensional fluid-structure interaction problem is addressed. The fluid motion is modelled by the incompressible unsteady Navier-Stokes equations. The spatial discretization by stabilized finite element method is used. The motion of the computational domain is treated with the aid of Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) method. The time-space problem is solved with the aid of multigrid method. The method is applied onto a problem of interaction of channel...
