Computer-aided modeling and simulation of electrical circuits with α-stable noise

Aleksander Weron (1995)

Applicationes Mathematicae

The aim of this paper is to demonstrate how the appropriate numerical, statistical and computer techniques can be successfully applied to the construction of approximate solutions of stochastic differential equations modeling some engineering systems subject to large disturbances. In particular, the evolution in time of densities of stochastic processes solving such problems is discussed.

Concept of Data Depth and Its Applications

Ondřej Vencálek (2011)

Acta Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis. Facultas Rerum Naturalium. Mathematica

Data depth is an important concept of nonparametric approach to multivariate data analysis. The main aim of the paper is to review possible applications of the data depth, including outlier detection, robust and affine-equivariant estimates of location, rank tests for multivariate scale difference, control charts for multivariate processes, and depth-based classifiers solving discrimination problem.

Concomitants and linear estimators in an i-dimensional extremal model.

M. Ivette Gomes (1985)

Trabajos de Estadística e Investigación Operativa

We consider here a multivariate sample Xj = (X1.j > ... > Xi.j), 1 ≤ j ≤ n, where the Xj, 1 ≤ j ≤ n, are independent i-dimensional extremal vectors with suitable unknown location and scale parameters λ and δ respectively. Being interested in linear estimation of these parameters, we consider the multivariate sample Zj, 1 ≤ j ≤ n, of the order statistic of largest values and their concomitants, and the best linear unbiased estimators of λ and δ based on such multivariate sample. Congruences and ideals in lattice effect algebras as basic algebras

Sylvia Pulmannová, Elena Vinceková (2009)

Kybernetika

Effect basic algebras (which correspond to lattice ordered effect algebras) are studied. Their ideals are characterized (in the language of basic algebras) and one-to-one correspondence between ideals and congruences is shown. Conditions under which the quotients are OMLs or MV-algebras are found.

Consistency of the least weighted squares under heteroscedasticity

Jan Ámos Víšek (2011)

Kybernetika

A robust version of the Ordinary Least Squares accommodating the idea of weighting the order statistics of the squared residuals (rather than directly the squares of residuals) is recalled and its properties are studied. The existence of solution of the corresponding extremal problem and the consistency under heteroscedasticity is proved.

Consistency of trigonometric and polynomial regression estimators

Waldemar Popiński (1998)

Applicationes Mathematicae

The problem of nonparametric regression function estimation is considered using the complete orthonormal system of trigonometric functions or Legendre polynomials e k , k=0,1,..., for the observation model y i = f ( x i ) + η i , i=1,...,n, where the η i are independent random variables with zero mean value and finite variance, and the observation points x i [ a , b ] , i=1,...,n, form a random sample from a distribution with density ϱ L 1 [ a , b ] . Sufficient and necessary conditions are obtained for consistency in the sense of the errors f - f ^ N , | f ( x ) - N ( x ) | , x [ a , b ] ,...

Constructing copulas by means of pairs of order statistics

Ali Dolati, Manuel Úbeda-Flores (2009)

Kybernetika

In this paper, we introduce two transformations on a given copula to construct new and recover already-existent families. The method is based on the choice of pairs of order statistics of the marginal distributions. Properties of such transformations and their effects on the dependence and symmetry structure of a copula are studied.

Contiguity and LAN-property of sequences of Poisson processes

Friedrich Liese, Udo Lorz (1999)

Kybernetika

Using the concept of Hellinger integrals, necessary and sufficient conditions are established for the contiguity of two sequences of distributions of Poisson point processes with an arbitrary state space. The distribution of logarithm of the likelihood ratio is shown to be infinitely divisible. The canonical measure is expressed in terms of the intensity measures. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the LAN-property are formulated in terms of the corresponding intensity measures.

Convergence of the tail probability for weighted sums of negatively orthant dependent random variables

Haiwu Huang, Linyan Li, Xuewen Lu (2020)

Kybernetika

In this research, strong convergence properties of the tail probability for weighted sums of negatively orthant dependent random variables are discussed. Some sharp theorems for weighted sums of arrays of rowwise negatively orthant dependent random variables are established. These results not only extend the corresponding ones of Cai [4], Wang et al. [19] and Shen [13], but also improve them, respectively.
