Note on the internal stabilization of stochastic parabolic equations with linearly multiplicative gaussian noise

Viorel Barbu (2013)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

The parabolic equations driven by linearly multiplicative Gaussian noise are stabilizable in probability by linear feedback controllers with support in a suitably chosen open subset of the domain. This procedure extends to Navier − Stokes equations with multiplicative noise. The exact controllability is also discussed.

Novel method for generalized stability analysis of nonlinear impulsive evolution equations

JinRong Wang, Yong Zhou, Wei Wei (2012)

Kybernetika

In this paper, we discuss some generalized stability of solutions to a class of nonlinear impulsive evolution equations in the certain piecewise essentially bounded functions space. Firstly, stabilization of solutions to nonlinear impulsive evolution equations are studied by means of fixed point methods at an appropriate decay rate. Secondly, stable manifolds for the associated singular perturbation problems with impulses are compared with each other. Finally, an example on initial boundary value...

On a Caginalp phase-field system with a logarithmic nonlinearity

Charbel Wehbe (2015)

Applications of Mathematics

We consider a phase field system based on the Maxwell Cattaneo heat conduction law, with a logarithmic nonlinearity, associated with Dirichlet boundary conditions. In particular, we prove, in one and two space dimensions, the existence of a solution which is strictly separated from the singularities of the nonlinear term and that the problem possesses a finite-dimensional global attractor in terms of exponential attractors.

On a class of elliptic operators with unbounded coefficients in convex domains

Atti della Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali. Rendiconti Lincei. Matematica e Applicazioni

We study the realization A of the operator A = 1 2 - ( D U , D ) in L 2 Ω , μ , where Ω is a possibly unbounded convex open set in R N , U is a convex unbounded function such that lim x Ω , x Ω U x = + and lim x + , x Ω U x = + , D U x is the element with minimal norm in the subdifferential of U at x , and μ d x = c exp - 2 U x d x is a probability measure, infinitesimally invariant for A . We show that A , with domain D A = u H 2 Ω , μ : D U , D u L 2 Ω , μ is a dissipative self-adjoint operator in L 2 Ω , μ . Note that the functions in the domain of A do not satisfy any particular boundary condition. Log-Sobolev and Poincaré inequalities allow...

On a conserved Penrose-Fife type system

Gianni Gilardi, Andrea Marson (2005)

Applications of Mathematics

We deal with a class of Penrose-Fife type phase field models for phase transitions, where the phase dynamics is ruled by a Cahn-Hilliard type equation. Suitable assumptions on the behaviour of the heat flux as the absolute temperature tends to zero and to + are considered. An existence result is obtained by a double approximation procedure and compactness methods. Moreover, uniqueness and regularity results are proved as well.

On a model of rotating superfluids

Sylvia Serfaty (2001)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

We consider an energy-functional describing rotating superfluids at a rotating velocity ω , and prove similar results as for the Ginzburg-Landau functional of superconductivity: mainly the existence of branches of solutions with vortices, the existence of a critical ω above which energy-minimizers have vortices, evaluations of the minimal energy as a function of ω , and the derivation of a limiting free-boundary problem.
