Speed-up of reaction-diffusion fronts by a line of fast diffusion

Henri Berestycki, Anne-Charline Coulon, Jean-Michel Roquejoffre, Luca Rossi (2013/2014)

Séminaire Laurent Schwartz — EDP et applications

In these notes, we discuss a new model, proposed by H. Berestycki, J.-M. Roquejoffre and L. Rossi, to describe biological invasions in the plane when a strong diffusion takes place on a line. This model seems relevant to account for the effects of roads on the spreading of invasive species. In what follows, the diffusion on the line will either be modelled by the Laplacian operator, or the fractional Laplacian of order less than 1. Of interest to us is the asymptotic speed of spreading in the direction...

Stability for a diffusive delayed predator-prey model with modified Leslie-Gower and Holling-type II schemes

Yanling Tian (2014)

Applications of Mathematics

A diffusive delayed predator-prey model with modified Leslie-Gower and Holling-type II schemes is considered. Local stability for each constant steady state is studied by analyzing the eigenvalues. Some simple and easily verifiable sufficient conditions for global stability are obtained by virtue of the stability of the related FDE and some monotonous iterative sequences. Numerical simulations and reasonable biological explanations are carried out to illustrate the main results and the justification...

Stabilization in degenerate parabolic equations in divergence form and application to chemotaxis systems

Sachiko Ishida, Tomomi Yokota (2023)

Archivum Mathematicum

This paper presents a stabilization result for weak solutions of degenerate parabolic equations in divergence form. More precisely, the result asserts that the global-in-time weak solution converges to the average of the initial data in some topology as time goes to infinity. It is also shown that the result can be applied to a degenerate parabolic-elliptic Keller-Segel system.

Systems of reaction-diffusion equations with spatially distributed hysteresis

Pavel Gurevich, Sergey Tikhomirov (2014)

Mathematica Bohemica

We study systems of reaction-diffusion equations with discontinuous spatially distributed hysteresis on the right-hand side. The input of the hysteresis is given by a vector-valued function of space and time. Such systems describe hysteretic interaction of non-diffusive (bacteria, cells, etc.) and diffusive (nutrient, proteins, etc.) substances leading to formation of spatial patterns. We provide sufficient conditions under which the problem is well posed in spite of the assumed discontinuity of...
