Octonionic Cayley spinors and E 6

Tevian Dray, Corinne A. Manogue (2010)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Attempts to extend our previous work using the octonions to describe fundamental particles lead naturally to the consideration of a particular real, noncompact form of the exceptional Lie group E 6 , and of its subgroups. We are therefore led to a description of E 6 in terms of 3 × 3 octonionic matrices, generalizing previous results in the 2 × 2 case. Our treatment naturally includes a description of several important subgroups of E 6 , notably G 2 , F 4 , and (the double cover of) S O ( 9 , 1 ) . An interpretation of the actions...

On a semigroup of measures with irregular densities

Przemysław Gadziński (2000)

Colloquium Mathematicae

We study the densities of the semigroup generated by the operator - X 2 + | Y | on the 3-dimensional Heisenberg group. We show that the 7th derivatives of the densities have a jump discontinuity. Outside the plane x=0 the densities are C . We give explicit spectral decomposition of images of - X 2 + | Y | in representations.

On a variant of Kazhdan's property (T) for subgroups of semisimple groups

Mohammed Bachir Bekka, Nicolas Louvet (1997)

Annales de l'institut Fourier

Let Γ be an irreducible lattice in a product G of simple groups. Assume that G has a factor with property (T). We give a description of the topology in a neighbourhood of the trivial one dimensional representation of Γ in terms of the topology of the dual space G ^ of G .We use this result to give a new proof for the triviality of the first cohomology group of Γ with coefficients in a finite dimensional unitary representation.

On Analytic Vectors for Unitary Representations of Infinite Dimensional Lie Groups

Karl-H. Neeb (2011)

Annales de l’institut Fourier

Let G be a connected and simply connected Banach–Lie group. On the complex enveloping algebra of its Lie algebra 𝔤 we define the concept of an analytic functional and show that every positive analytic functional λ is integrable in the sense that it is of the form λ ( D ) = d π ( D ) v , v for an analytic vector v of a unitary representation of G . On the way to this result we derive criteria for the integrability of * -representations of infinite dimensional Lie algebras of unbounded operators to unitary group representations.For...
