Grandient Estimates for Degenerate Diffusion Equations. I.
The adjustment of one-dimensional space grid for a parabolic partial differential equation solved by the finite element method of lines is considered in the paper. In particular, the approach based on a posteriori error indicators and error estimators is studied. A statement on the rate of convergence of the approximation of error by estimator to the error in the case of a system of parabolic equations is presented.
We discuss a general framework of monotone skew-product semiflows under a connected group action. In a prior work, a compact connected group -action has been considered on a strongly monotone skew-product semiflow. Here we relax the strong monotonicity and compactness requirements, and establish a theory concerning symmetry or monotonicity properties of uniformly stable 1-cover minimal sets. We then apply this theory to show rotational symmetry of certain stable entire solutions for a class of...
We study asymptotic behavior of radial solutions of a nonlocal Fokker-Planck equation describing the evolution of self-attracting particles. In particular, we consider stationary solutions in balls and in the whole space, self-similar solutions defined globally in time, blowing up self-similar solutions, and singularities of solutions that blow up in a finite time.
Radially symmetric solutions of a nonlocal Fokker-Planck equation describing the evolution of self-attracting particles in a bounded container are studied. Conditions ensuring either global-in-time existence of solutions or their finite time blow up are given.
