On Sylow 2-subgroups of K2OF for quadratic number fields F.
We study Tate’s refinement for a conjecture of Gross on the values of abelian -function at and formulate its generalization to arbitrary cyclic extensions. We prove that our generalized conjecture is true in the case of number fields. This in particular implies that Tate’s refinement is true for any number field.
In the -th cyclotomic field a prime number, , the prime is totally ramified and the only ideal above is generated by , with the primitive -th root of unity . Moreover these numbers represent a norm coherent set, i.e. . It is the aim of this article to establish a similar result for the ray class field of conductor over an imaginary quadratic number field where is the power of a prime ideal in . Therefore the exponential function has to be replaced by a suitable elliptic function....
It is well known by results of Golod and Shafarevich that the Hilbert -class field tower of any real quadratic number field, in which the discriminant is not a sum of two squares and divisible by eight primes, is infinite. The aim of this article is to extend this result to any real abelian -extension over the field of rational numbers. So using genus theory, units of biquadratic number fields and norm residue symbol, we prove that for every real abelian -extension over in which eight primes...
Let be an imaginary bicyclic biquadratic number field, where is an odd negative square-free integer and its second Hilbert -class field. Denote by the Galois group of . The purpose of this note is to investigate the Hilbert -class field tower of and then deduce the structure of .
We study the capitulation of -ideal classes of an infinite family of imaginary bicyclic biquadratic number fields consisting of fields , where and are different primes. For each of the three quadratic extensions inside the absolute genus field of , we determine a fundamental system of units and then compute the capitulation kernel of . The generators of the groups and are also determined from which we deduce that is smaller than the relative genus field . Then we prove that each...
From a paper by A. Angelakis and P. Stevenhagen on the determination of a family of imaginary quadratic fields having isomorphic absolute Abelian Galois groups , we study any such issue for arbitrary number fields . We show that this kind of property is probably not easily generalizable, apart from imaginary quadratic fields, because of some -adic obstructions coming from the global units of . By restriction to the -Sylow subgroups of and assuming the Leopoldt conjecture we show that the...
Let and be two prime integers and let be a positive odd square-free integer. Assuming that the fundamental unit of has a negative norm, we investigate the unit group of the fields .
A number field , with ring of integers , is said to be a Pólya field if the -algebra formed by the integer-valued polynomials on admits a regular basis. In a first part, we focus on fields with degree less than six which are Pólya fields. It is known that a field is a Pólya field if certain characteristic ideals are principal. Analogously to the classical embedding problem, we consider the embedding of in a Pólya field. We give a positive answer to this embedding problem by showing that...
A number field , with ring of integers , is said to be a Pólya field when the -algebra formed by the integer-valued polynomials on admits a regular basis. It is known that such fields are characterized by the fact that some characteristic ideals are principal. Analogously to the classical embedding problem in a number field with class number one, when is not a Pólya field, we are interested in the embedding of in a Pólya field. We study here two notions which can be considered as measures...
