Weyl quantization for the semidirect product of a compact Lie group and a vector space

Benjamin Cahen (2009)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Let G be the semidirect product V K where K is a semisimple compact connected Lie group acting linearly on a finite-dimensional real vector space V . Let 𝒪 be a coadjoint orbit of G associated by the Kirillov-Kostant method of orbits with a unitary irreducible representation π of G . We consider the case when the corresponding little group H is the centralizer of a torus of K . By dequantizing a suitable realization of π on a Hilbert space of functions on n where n = dim ( K / H ) , we construct a symplectomorphism between...

What is a disk?

Kari Hag (1999)

Banach Center Publications

This paper should be considered as a companion report to F.W. Gehring’s survey lectures “Characterizations of quasidisks” given at this Summer School [7]. Notation, definitions and background results are given in that paper. In particular, D is a simply connected proper subdomain of R 2 unless otherwise stated and D* denotes the exterior of D in R ¯ 2 . Many of the characterizations of quasidisks have been motivated by looking at properties of euclidean disks. It is therefore natural to go back and ask...

When does a Bounded Domain Cover a Projective Manifold? (Survey)

Kasparian, Azniv (1997)

Serdica Mathematical Journal

* The research has been partially supported by Bulgarian Funding Organizations, sponsoring the Algebra Section of the Mathematics Institute, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, a Contract between the Humboldt Univestit¨at and the University of Sofia, and Grant MM 412 / 94 from the Bulgarian Board of Education and TechnologyThe present survey introduces in some classical properties of the universal coverings of the projective algebraic manifolds. All the results are non-original. A forthcoming note is...

When is a Riesz distribution a complex measure?

Alan D. Sokal (2011)

Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France

Let α be the Riesz distribution on a simple Euclidean Jordan algebra, parametrized by α . I give an elementary proof of the necessary and sufficient condition for α to be a locally finite complex measure (= complex Radon measure).

Which 3-manifold groups are Kähler groups?

Alexandru Dimca, Alexander Suciu (2009)

Journal of the European Mathematical Society

The question in the title, first raised by Goldman and Donaldson, was partially answered by Reznikov. We give a complete answer, as follows: if G can be realized as both the fundamental group of a closed 3-manifold and of a compact Kähler manifold, then G must be finite—and thus belongs to the well-known list of finite subgroups of O ( 4 ) , acting freely on S 3 .

Whitney regularity and generic wings

V. Navarro Aznar, David J. A. Trotman (1981)

Annales de l'institut Fourier

Given adjacent subanalytic strata ( X , Y ) in R n verifying Kuo’s ratio test ( r ) (resp. Verdier’s ( w ) -regularity) we find an open dense subset of the codimension k C 1 submanifolds W (wings) containing Y such that ( X W , Y ) is generically Whitney ( b π ) -regular is exactly one more than the dimension...

Width asymptotics for a pair of Reinhardt domains

A. Aytuna, A. Rashkovskii, V. Zahariuta (2002)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

For complete Reinhardt pairs “compact set - domain” K ⊂ D in ℂⁿ, we prove Zahariuta’s conjecture about the exact asymptotics l n d s ( A K D ) - ( ( n ! s ) / τ ( K , D ) ) 1 / n , s → ∞, for the Kolmogorov widths d s ( A K D ) of the compact set in C(K) consisting of all analytic functions in D with moduli not exceeding 1 in D, τ(K,D) being the condenser pluricapacity of K with respect to D.

Wold decomposition of the Hardy space and Blaschke products similar to a contraction

M. Stessin (1999)

Colloquium Mathematicae

The classical Wold decomposition theorem applied to the multiplication by an inner function leads to a special decomposition of the Hardy space. In this paper we obtain norm estimates for componentwise projections associated with this decomposition. An application to operators similar to a contraction is given.
