The problem of finite-dimensional asymptotics of infinite-dimensional dynamic
systems is studied. A non-linear kinetic system with conservation of supports
for distributions has generically finite-dimensional asymptotics. Such systems are
apparent in many areas of biology, physics (the theory of parametric wave interaction),
chemistry and economics. This conservation of support has a biological interpretation:
inheritance. The finite-dimensional asymptotics demonstrates effects of “natural”...
Using recent results on measure theory and algebraic geometry, we show how semidefinite programming can be used to construct invariant measures of one-dimensional discrete dynamical systems (iterated maps on a real interval). In particular we show that both discrete measures (corresponding to finite cycles) and continuous measures (corresponding to chaotic behavior) can be recovered using standard software.
Existence of a mild solution to a semilinear Cauchy problem with an almost sectorial operator is studied. Under additional regularity assumptions on the nonlinearity and initial data we also prove the existence of a classical solution to this problem. An example of a parabolic problem in Hölder spaces illustrates the abstract result.
We derive in this article some models of
Cahn-Hilliard equations in nonisotropic media. These models, based on
constitutive equations introduced by Gurtin in [19], take the work of
internal microforces and also the deformations of the material into
account. We then study the existence and uniqueness of solutions and
obtain the existence of finite dimensional attractors.
Given a Hilbert space with a Borel probability measure , we prove the -dissipativity in of a Kolmogorov operator that is a perturbation, not necessarily of gradient type, of an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operator.
Some rigorous results connected with the conventional statistical theory of turbulence in both the two- and three-dimensional cases are discussed. Such results are based on the concept of stationary statistical solution, related to the notion of ensemble average for turbulence in statistical equilibrium, and concern, in particular, the mean kinetic energy and enstrophy fluxes and their corresponding cascades. Some of the results are developed here in the case of nonsmooth boundaries and a less regular...
The objective in these notes is to present an approach to dynamical systems in infinite dimensions. It does not seem reasonable to make a comparison of all of the orbits of the dynamics of two systems on non locally compact infinite dimensional spaces. Therefore, we choose to compare them on the set of globally defined bounded solutions. Fundamental problems are posed and several important results are stated when this set is compact. We then give results on the dynamical system which will ensure...
In this paper we consider the boundary value problem of some nonlinear Kirchhoff-type equation with dissipation. We also estimate the total energy of the system over any time interval with a tolerance level . The amplitude of such vibrations is bounded subject to some restrictions on the uncertain disturbing force . After constructing suitable Lyapunov functional, uniform decay of solutions is established by means of an exponential energy decay estimate when the uncertain disturbances are insignificant....
This paper deals with feedback stabilization of second order equations of the form ytt + A0y + u (t) B0y (t) = 0, t ∈ [0, +∞[, where A0 is a densely defined positive selfadjoint linear operator on a real Hilbert space H, with compact inverse and B0 is a linear map in diagonal form. It is proved here that the classical sufficient ad-condition of Jurdjevic-Quinn and Ball-Slemrod with the feedback control u = ⟨yt, B0y⟩H implies the strong stabilization. This result is derived from a general compactness...

Symmetries of the control systems of the form , , are studied. Some general results concerning point symmetries are obtained. Examples are provided.
Symmetries of the defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation are expressed in action-angle coordinates and characterized in terms of the periodic and Dirichlet spectrum of the associated Zakharov-Shabat system. Application: proof of the conjecture that the periodic spectrum of a Zakharov-Shabat operator is symmetric,i.e. for all , if and only if the sequence of gap lengths, , is symmetric with respect to .
