Dirac Operations with Strongly Singular Potentials. Distinguished Self-Adjoint Extensions Constructed with a Spectral Gap Theorem and Cut-Off-Potentials.
After introducing the notion of capacity in a general Hilbert space setting we look at the spectral bound of an arbitrary self-adjoint and semi-bounded operator . If is subjected to a domain perturbation the spectrum is shifted to the right. We show that the magnitude of this shift can be estimated in terms of the capacity. We improve the upper bound on the shift which was given in Capacity in abstract Hilbert spaces and applications to higher order differential operators (Comm. P. D. E., 24:759–775,...
We show that a B-space E has the (CRP) if and only if any dominated operator T from C[0, 1] into E is compact. Hence we apply this result to prove that c0 embeds isomorphically into the B-space of all compact operators from C[0, 1] into an arbitrary B-space E without the (CRP).
Various versions of the Dynamical Systems Method (DSM) are proposed for solving linear ill-posed problems with bounded and unbounded operators. Convergence of the proposed methods is proved. Some new results concerning the discrepancy principle for choosing the regularization parameter are obtained.
We define the magnetic Schrödinger operator on an infinite graph by the data of a magnetic field, some weights on vertices and some weights on edges. We discuss essential self-adjointness of this operator for graphs of bounded degree. The main result is a discrete version of a result of two authors of the present paper.
We give a condition of essential self-adjointness for magnetic Schrödinger operators on non-compact Riemannian manifolds with a given positive smooth measure which is fixed independently of the metric. This condition is related to the classical completeness of a related classical hamiltonian without magnetic field. The main result generalizes the result by I. Oleinik [29,30,31], a shorter and more transparent proof of which was provided by the author in [41]. The main idea, as in [41], consists...
The purpose of this note is to present several criteria for essential self-adjointness. The method is based on ideas due to Shubin. This note is divided into two parts. The first part deals with symmetric first order systems on the line in the most general setting. Such a symmetric first order system of differential equations gives rise naturally to a symmetric linear relation in a Hilbert space. In this case even regularity is nontrivial. We will announce a regularity result and discuss criteria...
A space of boundary values is constructed for the minimal symmetric operator generated by an infinite Jacobi matrix in the limit-circle case. A description of all maximal dissipative, accretive and selfadjoint extensions of such a symmetric operator is given in terms of boundary conditions at infinity. We construct a selfadjoint dilation of maximal dissipative operator and its incoming and outgoing spectral representations, which makes it possible to determine the scattering matrix of dilation....
Given a symmetric linear transformation on a Hilbert space, a natural problem to consider is the characterization of its set of symmetric extensions. This problem is equivalent to the study of the partial isometric extensions of a fixed partial isometry. We provide a new function theoretic characterization of the set of all self-adjoint extensions of any symmetric linear transformation B with finite equal indices and inner Livšic characteristic function θB by constructing a bijection between the...
A method to study the embedded point spectrum of self-adjoint operators is described. The method combines the Mourre theory and the Limiting Absorption Principle with the Feshbach Projection Method. A more complete description of this method is contained in a joint paper with V. Jakić, where it is applied to a study of embedded point spectrum of Pauli-Fierz Hamiltonians.
