Dějiny přírodních věd a techniky ve studiu budoucích učitelů: proč, kde, kdy, jak?
The article describes the author's considerations about two approaches to teaching mathematics which are inspired by several textbooks by Eduard Čech. Examples from the textbooks, methods of work with pupils and instructions for teachers are given. Čech's didactic work is briefly mentioned.
Pharmacokinetics is an excellent way to introduce biomathematical modeling at the sophomore level. Students have the opportunity to develop a mathematical model of a biological phenomenon to which they all can relate. Exploring pharmacokinetics takes students through the necessary stages of mathematical modeling: determining the goals of the model, deciphering between the biological aspects to include in the model, defining the assumptions of the model, and finally, building, analyzing, using, and...
The author presents a solution to a geometric problem concerning two squares inscribed into an equilateral triangle. It deals with finding such a position of the two squares for which the sum of areas is the smallest.
Information quality is crucial to any information fusion system as combining unreliable or partially credible pieces of information may lead to erroneous results. In this paper, Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence is being used as a framework for representing and combining uncertain pieces of information. We propose a method of dynamic estimation of evidence discounting rates based on the credibility of pieces of information. The credibility of a piece of information Cre(In) is evaluated through...
